**Did I post in the wrong thread??? Can’t determine if this is 911?? Will remove it once advised**

Hi Friends!

I finally got a chance to put together my boys spreadsheet. It is in my signature as well as at the bottom of this message.

He is due to eat in about 30 minutes and for 1.75u of insulin in about an hour. (We are trying to get him back up to 2u, he was sitting at 372 at his checkup yesterday).

On his Libre, he is sitting at 115, and on a human meter 132 (can't complain, but struggling on what to do next). With a history of DKA/ketones, I really do not want to skip a shot.

I can wait this out if needed. Let me know your thoughts?

What is his number now?

Who has been advising you on dosing. It’s a little wonky…. But I understand he had a DKA recently. Was he hospitalized?

Today’s cycle was good with blue nadirs so hold this dose for now (unless he earns a reduction.)

Yes, dosing is a little wonky. We’ve been playing by ear/the vet. Right now he’s on 1.75u and hoping we can get him stable or move him back up to 2. He was hospitalized 9/25-9/28!

Hold his dose means stay at 1.75u, correct? Still trying to get a better understanding of the new lingo to learn, lol :)

Okay. I think he’s definitely high enough where you can shoot the full dose now as long as you can monitor his cycle this evening and as long as you have HC food and karo/honey to raise his BG if he drops too low. He’s almost in the same BG as he was this morning.
Woohoo! That is great news. We will shoot now. I am able to stay up with him, I need to get my prime day deals ordered anyway! He’s definitely getting some freeze dried treats. We do have Karo as well as some high carb food if necessary. I appreciate your help! I will take my 911 out of my title :)

If you cannot monitor then we may want to consider a reduced dose for this one cycle. If you begin posting over on the ProZinc forum (not today of course but tomorrow) I can help you with dosing and other matters.

Yes, that was the result of (1) the delayed shot, and (2) the fact that it takes about two hours for ProZinc to onset and start to lower BG. So he had a couple of hours to climb before going back down again. It’s not your fault. This is new for you and you are gathering data on the spreadsheet to know what is a safe number to shoot. And by the time I got tagged and saw your post it was already getting close to two hours late for the shot. The nice thing about ProZinc is that it’s a bit more forgiving if you shoot late or shoot a reduced dose— cats usually can get back to at least close to normal within the next cycle.

Let me know how he is doing this morning. Start a post on the ProZinc forum if you are able.

Doing so now… thank you Suzanne!
