Yesterday.
I want to try shooting Guppy somewhere other than scruff/between the shoulders, but he is skinny and his skin is fairly taught (trying to get him to gain). I try to change exactly where I shoot on the scruff, but there's only so much skin and in some areas it's difficult to make sure I'm only grabbing skin. The belly/flank has always been a no-go zone for him, and he is so so cooperative as it is, I don't want to push him. Feeling around, the only real place where the skin is loose enough to tent would be around the side of the chest/behind his shoulders. Is this safe? Also open to advice if people have experience getting their no-belly kitty used to injecting in the flank. Thank you!

Except for a few rare occasions later in Neko's diabetic journey when she was getting fluids, I shot just below the shoulder blades. I'd alternate sides, and tried to follow a circular pattern on either side. It helped that her long hair was shortest just below the shoulder blades. She too objected when I tried the flank, until years later when I tried it again.

You might want to experiment with the roll method of shooting described in this post: Hometesting Links and Shooting Tips

This is helpful, I'll try it out tonight and see how he reacts. He seems okay with me messing with and rolling his skin there, but we'll see how the injection itself goes. Thank you
