23/8 Shakti - started higher carb food! AMPS 310

Hi all,
I followed up on the advice and went to Lidl this morning for 8.8 and 7.4% wet foods. I knew she liked the Gourmet Gold mousse stuff so I was sure to get those. Not sure how she feels about the other stuff. We're placing a new Libre today as well. I dosed a drop after feeding her Gourmet Gold with a little bit of LC chicken mixed in there. It is abundantly clear to me that she isn't ready to go without insulin, as her numbers were really spiking the longer we went without. I'm hoping this will work :)!

Good luck Fae and hoping this higher carb will do the trick to get Shakti in a more stable place! ❤️‍🩹🌊🏄‍♀️😻
PS hoping she leaves the Libre alone. Good job replacing it! 🎉🙌👏🏻

Yeah me too.. she has a tendency to take the Libre between her teeth and yank at it. The last one stayed on for six days and so has this. But given the stress of pricking so often and the stress of the cat shirt, it's the least crappy option. I think it just starts to itch on her after some days.

Would she tolerate any other option to cover it? Brianna uses a bandage wrap for Xander. And I use a tube top (no sleeves or collar) for Ivy.

Ivy absolutely hated the T-shirt and used to chew holes in it. After a while I finally realized that that’s what was stressing her out, so I switched her to tube top and she’s been really pretty fine with it.
So it seems to be a matter of figuring out what they will tolerate.
I know with Ivy the minute I leave her sensor uncovered, She absolutely will rip off the sensor, so I can’t have that going on.

I first purchased a few tops from Amazon, then I made my own.

Sadly not, she hates anything covering her body. She will pull any wrap off, or lick it incessantly. I also made a little top at some point but everything she wears ends up being wet from her spit and itchy all the time on her. She's the sweetest in the world, she'll allow much and is never aggressive when I need to do something unpleasant for her health, but she's very very difficult in that regard. It does seem to help to place the Libre under the hair somewhat (like letting some hair flow over it that is next to it), so she doesn't see it as much. Apart from that I have no solutions that aren't more or equally stressful. Thankfully we've gotten a lot of free replacements :P

I understand. I was just hoping to offer alternatives just in case 😘

I appreciate it! She's a very strong willed kitty :3 but maybe in time she'll get used to the monitor a but more. The new trimmer works great so placement is easypeasy now :) Hoping to put it late afternoon.

You might need to experiment with the new food to figure out when to give it and when to give the lower carbs. It’s going to be trial and error. The amps is due to having to skip. I hope this works. It has to actually because she needs some insulin support.

Yes she clearly does! Such numbers are no good.
So far it seems that the drop has been -much- less steep, though I have not replaced the Libre yet due to a very hectic day I managed some ear pricks. However, that happens more often after a skip so I won't be able to tell until a day or two later. I am very glad she loves the Gourmet stuff though. She's a choosy eater like most cats.

Today I gave her Gourmet Gold mixed both with LC Chicken from Almo Nature and the second plate with some of the LC Carny stuff.
