? Making Hansel change to wet food and adjusting the dosage. (repost from .org)

He weighs 5.4 kg (11.90 pounds). The baggies are 62 kcal each.
The dry food is 374kcal / 100gr so he's getting 187 kcal (50gr) of that every day.
We give the shots at 11 pm and 11 am at the moment. At 11 pm we leave one baggie and the remaining dry food. This might not be enough for the night...?

We need to give the urinary tract food (the kibble) as he had a "plug" twice there and had to go to the cat ER. Maybe this is not relevant if he only gets wet food.
He doesn't want to eat any of the wet urinary tract food. Maybe the current wet food is good enough.

Wow. That is almost 500 kcals of only the wet food. Then the 187 kcals of dry food! He is eating a lot.

That may not be enough for the night… maybe you should save some of the a.m. food to give at night. You could buy an automatic feeder to give him a sachet of wet food at +2 and another at +4.

I do hope the wet food will help the urinary blockage. Those are dangerous and expensive. Eliminating dry food should help a lot. He needs hydration. Do you have a water fountain by any chance?

Today (24 hours) we gave him 40gr dry food and 5 baggies wet food. It's about 145kcal dry and 310kcal wet food right now and he's still on 3 IE.

Even with this amount of food he is not gaining weight and stays hungry.

The automatic feeder at night is not possible since the 3 surefeed feeders read the chip to give cats individual access but there's no timer on it. Then the other cats will just steal his food unfortunately.

But we give him some food at 3 am (15 gr and a baggie usually).

We set up a water fountain system that he has access to 24/7 and he likes to drink from it!

It’s good that you are transitioning slowly. That’s right, forgot you have the three surefeed chip feeders.

I can’t remember if I sent you this article written by a veterinarian. It’s about dry food, but it’s relevant to the urinary blockage issue.
Info - Dry Food - PLEASE consider more than just carbohydrate content
Thank you. We want to get them all off dry food for sure. Our other cat Schmidt also had issues with UTI. We even installed litter box cams to see if they all pee/poop well 😅

I guess my main question now is:
How strict should we be with postponing food?
How much should we minimally and maximally give in 24 hours?

He's spending some time of the day just lying in front of his food tray waiting for a refill. It's so sad to see.

How strict should we be with postponing food?
Do you mean during the two hours prior to the morning and evening preshot times (AMPS and PMPS) where the cat isn’t supposed to eat for two hours to make sure the test is accurate and not inflated because of food/carbs?

Yes, during the cycle.
And how much food are we allowed to give in total? He is sooo hungry...
I have been through this before with my own cat. I don’t know that I would reduce his food intake right now. His appetite should decrease when his BG comes down. If his weight is stable on what you are feeding him then keep it up for now. If he is losing weight (unless he really needs to lose weight) then you may need to feed more.

But can you feed most of the food in the first half of the cycle? And if he’s going crazy for food just give a spoonful of LC wet food if it’s later in the cycle.
