were going back to the vet this morning.

her blood work came back and he says she has mild kidney failure =(
I have to go discuss with him today. they did not do another urine test on her. im trying to get them another urine sample before we head out.
as for the fluids im worried about doing it at home. she is a fighter & I don't have any help. its just her and I. she still has an infection were going to try a different antibiotic.

also im noticing that she's throwing up around 3-5 am at first it was just clear liquid. first 2 times I noticed it was just clear liquid. I make sure to get up to give her some food at night in between feedings
the last 2 days she has been throwing up ..not really chunks of anything . just slime the color of her food.
he says she will need a kidney diet. he will likely want me to start on the medicated stuff.

She’s doing alright it’s been harder and harder to test her. She’s not eating as much . I’m trying everything to make her eat but she will just pick.
I haven’t given her fluids again since I tried last Sunday . I can still feel the air under her skin. It feels like so much. I’m afraid to try the fluids again

I’ve updated the spread sheet. I keep a book just in case to be a back up .it’s been so busy I’ve just been testing and writing it down and running out the door. It’s a super busy time at work which isn’t helping our situation

And you are using an anti-nausea medication like Ondansetron? Followed by an appetite stimulant like Mirataz?
 
I think she would feel a lot better if you could give her the fluids or if you could get the vet to do it or pay one of the vet techs who work there to come over and do it?

If she is not eating then it would be best if you can get a handle on that as soon as possible. I believe it would be worth a try to contact your vet and tell them she is eating very little and to tell them that you would like to try an anti-nausea medication like Ondansetron or Cerenia at the very minimum. Then ask for some Mirataz to put on her ear (appetite stimulant). You have to get a handle on the lack of eating very quickly because once they lose weight it’s very difficult to get it back up again.
 
I would try to give the fluids being very careful to drain off all the air bubbles from the line before inserting the needle. You can also move the place where you insert the needle around a little bit. It doesn’t have to be exactly in the same spot.
 
When can you be home to run a daytime curve on her for the .25 dose? If we can see what her nadir is on this dose then you will have an idea of how she will do during the day when you are not at home. You can leave the small meals in the auto feeder.

Ok Sunday will probably be the next day. It’s hard to get tests at night right now . My work load is double right now until after mothers day.
I come home fight to get a test then feed her and follow around until I get her to eat enough to then fight and give her insulin. She now knows when it’s going to happen‍♀️ then I’m up aroun 2-3 am to feed her then leave for work at 7 Back home by 7
if I don’t feed her myself she wont go to the bowl to eat it and then she wakes up and vomits .

Wow. She doesn’t eat from the bowl on her own anymore? And she’s fighting you to do anything like tests or shots? If she’s vomiting on a regular basis she should be getting Cerenia once per day (put into a size 4 gelatin capsule because of the horribly bitter taste. She’s vomiting food after eating it?
 
Can you give her something like a Tiki Stix (it’s a squeeze tube like a Churu but has no carbs) in a little dish set down in front of her while you test her? Would that distract her?

Have you tried pure meat baby food like Gerber chicken, ham or beef or other all meat flavors. Ham usually get most cats to eat — I am just thinking of using it as a distraction while you give insulin or test her. I am trying to think of things that work.

It’s going to be really hard to give her the treatments she needs for her kidney disease if you can’t give her a pill or the fluids. I think I mentioned before that she needs some Cerenia. In addition to stopping vomiting, in some cats (particularly of they are in the early stages of kidney disease) it can help with nausea and get them eating again. It doesn’t seem like your vet is doing much.

Ok i will add that and the food on my signature
And no she’s not vomiting food it’s usually clean liquid or thin liquid the color of her food .
Only if I don’t get up early enough to give her a snack in the middle of the night

Okay. It’s common for kidney cats to get too much acid buildup on their tummies and it makes them vomit fluid. Feeding like you are trying to do with the snacks can really help. Cats who tend to vomit up clear foamy liquid in the morning usually need 1/4 of a Pepcid AC tablet daily. But as long as she’s getting the snacks she seems to be coping okay.
