Would there be any other reason for his BG numbers to have been elevated (375 at diagnosis)? Any "short term" diabetes or symptoms? I'm very happy for his turnaround, it just went so well and so quickly, it's hard to believe he ever "really" had diabetes (other than all of the matching symptoms the past few months).

Is it common to get the pancreas back in order so fast?

Did he have a course of steroids in the weeks/months before he was first diagnosed? Sometimes this triggers diabetes in cats and often these cats have a good chance of going into remission quite quickly.
If not that I don't know. Maybe you just got very lucky!

Jude went into remission within about a month, too (and came out of remission six months later). We think his initial diabetes occurred as a result of steroids. Also, his numbers improved dramatically with his shift to LC food after his diagnosis (he was getting only a little bit of kibble prior to the dx, only a couple of tblsps a day, and was eating wet MC food--still the food shift was meaningful to his numbers). Hoping you and Admiral Ackbar enjoy a forever remission!
