Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

Noogi had a yellow this morning but I think that was from the HC snack I gave him last night. He went to 56 and I overreacted. Note to self: keep HC for under 50s only!
But he was down to a blue at +2 and nicely in the greens today :D

This evening I am writing notes for the veterinary nurse who is going to look after him on Friday. I have to attend a whole-day conference an hour out of town. I know he's not going to like it. But I think him being there at the practice is better than any alternative I can come up with. Aargh, so stressful, I hate leaving him so much!

He's recovered very nicely from the skip and seems to be holding the reduction well (although it's only 3 cycles so far). You might need to test and feed every hour tonight. Better to feed the carbs earlier in the cycle than later.

So Noogi will be boarded at the vet's on Friday or will the nurse come home?

So far, so good. And yes, I will be doing than tonight.

He'll be going there. Was going to have a friend pop in and check on him but she has very limited time, and I'd rather have him monitored a bit more closely. Hope it's the right choice

Another thing is happening now - I just saw Noogi was moving very gingerly on his way in and out the window (he has a chair on one side and stairs the other, so it's not a big jump). His spine is clearly sore again, confirmed when I touched his lower back. He had this a month ago, and was on Petcam for a few days, which seemed to work. The vet left me with some extra Petcam, so I have given him a dose now, and will continue for a few days. Hoping the vet can examine him when he's at the practice on Friday, or I will need a separate consult next week. We need a plan on how to manage this - likely arthritis. I have a list of meds that other folks here are using and have recommended but have not had a spare sec for researching them. Had hoped it would be longer before he had another flare up :(

Having table service for his +1 snack! So spoilt :D

I'm sorry his back is aching, and I hope you can find a suitable remedy. But! His numbers are looking great! Have a nice, safe surf tonight, Noogi!
Thanks Mary. It's horrible seeing him in obvious discomfort, especially when he has been feeling so much better since he hit those greens.
And I don't want to lose our momentum if his BG goes up as a result of pain :(

Aww, poor Noogi. I'm so sorry to hear that he's in pain again! :( I hope the vet is able to check him out on Friday so you don't have to book a separate appointment (and make his stressful stay there while you're away at least even more productive). On the upside, his spreadsheet is looking fantastic!

How long will you be gone on Friday? Will you be giving both shots?

I think Petcam is Meloxicam? What dose are you giving? Don't want to scare you, but vets have a tendency of giving cats the dog dose of Meloxicam which can lead to kidney issues. Meloxicam has a black box warning in North America but is commonly used in Europe and Australia to treat arthritis in pets. I used it for Budge for 2 years and she did wonderfully on it but it eventually stopped working. There are a lot of other options for arthritis now - joint supplements, Adequan/Catrophen, Solensia etc. Not sure which of them are available in South Africa though.

Yes I will be able to give both shots. Made arrangements to make sure I can leave event in time to fetch him just before PM shot time.

Yes it is meloxicam. I'm giving 0.08ml once a day. Is that a big dose?
Thanks for the heads up about this Bhooma. I will certainly look into other options - my project for April!
