Ivy peed and pooped overnight. Yay.
The poop is definitely more formed so we’re heading in the right direction there.

I decided to stop the Zofran because I think it was making her completely zonked.

I think she was too sleepy to eat, so I’m going to try it without using the Xofran (Ondansetron).
I gave two doses yesterday.

Her appetite is still not good.
It’s just hard to know if she’s not hungry or nauseous.
This morning she started to eat her regular food, ate a little bit and then decided she was done, so I offered her some fancy feast pate (she seems to like the stinky nature of the fancy feast).
She ate some of that and then she decided she was done, so I’m trying to syringe her enough that I feel that she’s got some food in her to counteract the insulin.
I’ve been giving a full dose of insulin.

I’m not sure how much less than the regular amount of food I should find acceptable.

But she seems more awake and alert this morning than yesterday, so we’ll give it a go on just Cerenia and Mirtazapine and see how that works.
I did give a half of a dose yesterday of Mirataz from the new tube, but maybe it’s just not enough either????

I don’t know what to make of everything. I don’t know if she’s nauseous. (She’s not meatloafing and she’s not licking her lips or anything and she hasn’t vomited since Friday night.)

At this point, I need her to eat better and I think things will turn around if she will eat, but we’re not out of the woods there yet.

I think I will stop giving the Animal Essentials Colon Rescue, since her poops seem to be more formed and not liquid anymore.

I think I should continue the S. Bouliardi just to support her gut at least for a few days.

Hope everyone is doing well and you all have a very safe surf and a very boring day :cat:

I am glad to read that she is eating better today. I think I would try to have food available for her, no matter the time, at least until she eats well. You know her enough to know what is food induced, anyway.
Did the vet advise you to give only half the dose of Mirataz?
I hope she will start feeling better now that she is eating a little more, and I agree, it would be great if we knew why they don't eat.
I'm thinking about you a lot, sending good healing vines your way :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Good morning, Staci. I am happy to hear she pooped, and it was more formed and also peed last night.
When Butch's appetite is low, I sprinkle little grated cheesed on his food, and it seems to entice him to eat more. I add it to the stinky fancy feast that he loves.
Glad she is more alert this morning. You have a good plan. Hopefully, Ivy's appetite will pick up more and be back to normal before you know it. Sending prayers to you both :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well, as it turns out, Ivy is having an active cycle this morning. I wonder if it has anything to do with eating less calories since she’s not finished her food, she’s definitely not getting the normal amount of food into her.
However, I think she was due for a lower cycle since the past couple cycles have been higher.

Of course, I’ll always take a lower cycle during the day over one that goes on overnight.
I’m having to syringe feed her some medium carbs to keep her coasting along. She’s not happy.
She’s just kind of sleeping in a dark corner of a room wanting to be left alone.
I’m hoping she starts to turn the corner in terms of appetite. She’s being very quiet not grumbling or talking to me at all. I just know she’s not feeling great.
Good news is no vomiting or anything like that, no licking the lips.
Hoping the lack of Ondansetron will help her and not hinder her.

I did get a call from the vet’s office From the ER so they wanted to check on her. I asked for a call from her primary vet so I’m hoping to hear from him today.

hi Cecile, if I leave food out, it just sits there so I try to offer her food every so often and she just doesn’t really have any interest unless I’m syringe feeding at this point.
She’s more interested in sleeping. I have a better shot at meal time, but I will try to give her a little bit of food throughout the day.
No, the vet didn’t recommend anything.
He wasn’t even around last week when all this started so I just decided to give her half of a dose of the mirtazapine because that’s what I’ve done in the past and it’s worked well for her. I may give her a full dose later today Hoping that might work a little better.

Thanks for the suggestions Madeline. I really appreciate it. It’s always so helpful to know what other people have tried. Sometimes you just don’t think of things on your own.
Right now, nothing seems to be enticing her to eat on her own so we just have to keep trying.
Hope Butch is doing well!!
Let me know what’s happening with your new phone and the Libre, I’m hoping you’ve gotten that situation squared away!

You’re doing such a good job Staci, this must be so hard to figure out what’s going on. Maybe the food intake will snowball, she has a little more food, feels better, has more, etc.
Thank you, Tim, I appreciate your support she will start to eat more. It will make my life a lot, calmer. Hope Pookey is doing well today!

Hi Staci,
Yay to firmer outputs! :)
A few years back, Mikan's sister had a similar situation - no appetite, diarrhea, and lethargy.
Vet didn't find anything significant - said likely gastroenteritis. I'd say that it took her 3-4 days to get back to normal.
But she was basically healthy. FD of course complicates the situation when the kitty doesn't feel well. Hopefully, Ivy will now sleep it off and start showing some improvement on the appetite front.
Ivy is a lucky girl to have such an attentive mom. You must be exhausted, though!
Hope you get to have some rest as well, Staci.

how's baby doing now???? :) I really hope eating well.. glad for the eliminations finally! so important. :/

mine didn't eat today well right idk (?).. not sure.. or maybe he did. (I can't get consensus on what constitutes enough food PS.... I say 1/4 can least..) he usually does tho. but we're dealing w a lot rn.. stress is terrible! idk. :) kitties do what they want sometimes... :/ I have no idea. might have nothing to do w the food. could indicated good things. things are just a mystery. im confused most of the time lol. but we tryin.

and juggling some other things going on too w this is hard to do. you're doing so well. hoping things straighten so nicely and calm comes in again! :bighug:

Well They gave her fluids and they did another full panel of lab work, will have the answers tomorrow.

He thought maybe possibly pancreatitis and he also said he thought that there could be something else going on.

Depending on what the lab work shows and if she doesn’t start feeling better he thought maybe we would need to do an ultrasound. Boy I hope not.

I took her today, not sedated and boy it was a rough visit because she’s so difficult.
It was quite difficult for them draw blood. And of course she was very angry, bit her lip and bled. She was breathing really heavy and she showed how and why she needs sedation.
And the vet was quick to point out “This is why we sedate her”
Her panting is not good for her either. She works herself up into a real tizzy.

Poor girl makes it so much more difficult on Everyone than it needs to be.
Now I hope she will eat for me soon.
What a day :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Hi Kit, i’m sorry to hear one of your kitties Had a nasty bout.
With Ivy, it seems to me that it was somehow related to the sedation in the office visit. She was fine before we went to the vet last week with all the sedation and stuff and then she hasn’t yet recovered from that visit last Tuesday.
She’s been in a really bad way since Thursday so today is day five.
I’m glad they gave her fluids and I brought a set of fluids home so I have to get myself re-acclimated to giving fluids. I haven’t done it in about 17 years but if I have to, I’m sure I can do it and I can get one of my guys to hold her and I think we’ll be able to do it.

She’s definitely worse at the vet than she is for me at home.

Thanks for checking on us. We really appreciate it. Hope all is well with you.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Gosh Staci, I'm so sorry you and Ivy are going through this. I know that impromptu vet visit was tough on you both. I'm glad you took her though and I hope you are able to get some answers soon. I feel your frustration and anxiety on a personal level lol

Sending you and miss Ivy all the healing and positive thoughts and prayers ❤️ :bighug: ❤️

I’m so sorry you guys are going through this Staci. You’re taking really good care of her, I wish she could understand at the vet and make it easier on you, but you’re doing it all for her. Stay strong and give her some pets for me. I hope you’re able to get some rest and take care of yourself too. Sending all the healing vibes from me, Ailish, her niece cat Gracie and the little guy!

That's so hard, when you just don't know why she's not eating. I'm a broken record but I'm so sorry you're both going through this. It sounds like you're taking such good care of her and it's obvious you're pouring all of yourself into taking care of your sweet girl.

I’m glad you took her back in. I have suspected pancreatitis so I won’t be surprised if it is. The fluids will help. You can always back down in the zofran dose to see if it helps her but the MiraTaz transdermal does have some anti-nausea properties so it might be enough for her. I hope she starts to feel better soon. If it is pancreatitis, it can take several days for kitty to feel better but it’s good you can syringe feed her. You don’t need hepatic lipidosis on top of everything else.

Thank you, Marje. Poor baby she’s just not interested in food. I brought home some A/D but not sure if I should try that.

I stopped the Zofran last night. She was so “out of it”.
I hope she’s not in pain. I’m so worried.

Hi Staci,
I'm so relieved to hear she's doing a little better. I hope you get some good results tomorrow and that they will finally figure out what's going on. You've had so many difficult days but you handled it so purrrrfectly as always. And Ivy is so lucky to have you as her mama.
We're continuing to send healing vines ♡♡♡
