I had to say goodbye to my oldest cat, Duquessa, today. She was 17. She wasn't one of my diabetic cats.

15 years ago she walked in through my front door like she owned the place. I thought that my other cats would chase her out, but they immediately accepted her. I found out shortly after that day that she was also pregnant. On July 3rd she let me know about 1 AM she was ready to give birth. I put her in the area that was set up for her and within a few minutes, she had her first kitten. I made sure she was ok and taking care of the kitten. I started heading back to bed but she was not going to allow that. So I stayed in the room until she had all 5 healthy kittens. Then she allowed me to go back to bed. I am still not sure where she hid 5 kittens in her belly. She was a tiny cat and weighed 8 lbs shortly before she gave birth.

I still have her 3 sons and my sister has her daughters. She was always a sweet cat and nothing ever bothered her. When I am at home, she was always nearby or in my lap. I am missing her so much. I have known for several weeks this day was coming but you are never ready when it arrives. I love you my sweet Duquessa.

Fly free sweet baby and watch over everyone who loves you.
