My sweet Bella is gone. She did not have any strength left, I think recovering from 2 saddle thrombi was just as much as she could do. She was exhausted.
I helped her through the night, she was wheezing, she peed on her blanket, I washed her and kept her dry and warm. The vet came at noon. We were together all morning, just me and her, and I talked to her a lot. We went through the house, she stayed on all the beds, all the sunny spots she loved, until she let me know she wanted to move. Then she was by the heat vent, then her blanket in the corner by the bookcase, where she spent the last few nights. She kept moving, coming back to the kitchen, the living room, and eventually she just stayed here in the kitchen and her breaths were gettimg very slow. At the end she weighed 8 pounds. She was 13 2 years ago, down to 11 willingly (on my side at least), then it was just loss of muscle and the last few days of dehydration.
She went to sleep very peacefully in my arms, with her vet who really liked her. In the sun.
I miss her, she was here all this week but already gone, as my son said, and it is so true.
I feel bad, I should not have waited so long, but she was so strong, I was hoping for a third miracle.
I am so happy that she chose us at the Humane Society, she came to sit in front of us and said hello. Bella was a talker, she had many, many different ways of telling us what she wanted. That day it was "You are my new family, take me home now". So we did. And we had 7 perfect years with the most perfect cat, so full of personnality and so funny. I am amazed by how many of my son's friends, and my friends, some who don't even like cats that much, are telling us they are sad, that they loved her.
I will try to keep coming here, you have been like a family to us for the last 3 years. And maybe I can give back and help, too.
Thank you, thank you so much for all the love over the last few weeks, you cannot imagine how much it helped me. Thank you.
I feel so grateful for this forum. @Bandit's Mom you helped me so much, even when I had no idea what i was doing, I was scared to make mistakes, and you kept telling me what to do over and over and so patiently. Bella lived so well and she was so regulated because of you.
@Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee @Little Man's mom (GA) @Angela & Cleo @Sienne and Gabby (GA) and many more of you who helped us. Thank you.
@Staci & Ivy @Heike & BInie @bluesunshine @Tim & Pookey @Fistuk & Shelly I love you all, I will keep coming to check on you.
@Diane Tyler's Mom GA your daily messages of love helped me so much.
I am sorry, i know I am forgetting many of you but please know that I read and appreciated every single message that was posted on my threads.
