I had decided to start him with 0.25 today but changed my mind when I saw that his BG had dropped this morning. This means that his pancreas is working, right?

I will keep testing / feeding every 4 hours today to see how it goes. What worries me now is that his nose seems blocked so I'll call the vet again!

The vet prescribed more antibiotics (Vibramycin) for the next 7 days.

He also suggested Prezolon but I declined - it's a steroid.

If you aren't doing it already, I'd consider giving a probiotic while you are giving the antibiotic. Antibiotics can kill the good tummy flora along with the bad. Give the two a couple hours apart.

Good call on the Prezolon (prednisolone).

I'm not sure what's available for you. Some human probiotics would work with quality L. acidophilus supplement. Your vet may have some suggestions - that's where I got info on what to give Neko.

This morning my husband woke up before me and fed Rico 30' before his AMPS. Will this read higher or lower than the true numbers?

Hard to say, depends how well his pancreas is doing. But since you aren't giving insulin, test him a couple hours after he ate.
