12/27 Minner AMPS 248 +2 234 +5 137 +6 113 +7 76 +8 80

Apparently Minner is just toying with me. When I went to do the +8 test she was nibbling at her food bowls from breakfast. She tested at 80. Then I offered her a fresh can of 4% chunky pate and she ate the majority of it.

Hi Bhooma. Yes, she gets zero carb treats right b4 and after each test. Since she is now in blue/ green land, I have been testing a lot more and therefore using more treats, which is fine with Minner. :joyful:
I'm not sure if zero carb treats might be enough to feed the curve. How about giving her a tsp of her usual LC food after each test - especially in active cycles like today?

Thanks Bhooma. Great point. She’s a recent dry kibble junkie convert (end of October) and she is super picky. Fancy Feast is only wet food (of any carb content) I have been able to get her to eat. I leave her food out so she always has access. I don’t think she will always eat an offer of pate at test times and it won’t entice her to tolerate the ear pricks. But I very much think you are right that I need to find some snack/treat with non-zero LC, if such a thing exists. She loves hartz bisque but its high carb so i reserve that for when i panic about low (to me) numbers … i’m getting better. I will start researching to find some new treat options w/ LC.

Laura, have you tried a little Fortiflora on her food? Love to see Minner in blue and green land!
Hi Marielle. Months ago I tried fortiflora. Sigh. Even now with the pates I have to crumble freeze dried chicken on top to get her to eat. But you are the 2nd member suggesting fortiflora in past few days so I am going to try again! Thank you!

I was just thinking it might be the boost you'd need to get her to eat. Also, as an aside, I read this written by the DVM who does the food (carb) charts and home made meal recipes this website links to: if you have packets of Fortiflora that are expired, they are still okay to use--the probiotic might be expired, but the flavor aspect of it is still present, and, in this case, that's what you want.

Perfect! B/c i do have some expired and will try. :). Cool. Thx again.

I love how Minner is very slowly lowering her nadirs. :D And look at you shooting that 106 PMPS without blinking tonight.

Have you tried Churus drizzled on food? They are low carb creamy treats.

A few mths ago I tried churus bisque and she would not touch it. I’ve never tried the lickable tubes, I assume they are different somehow from their bisque recipe. I ordered a container from amazon. Fingers crossed.

Thanks. After the 91, a higher ps number doesn’t scare me as much now, but if I get an 80 or lower in the morning I will be super squeamish about shooting. I’m also pretty tired from not getting much sleep for a week now that she is deep in green land and I’m so scared she’ll be a non symptom hypo and i won’t know she’s under 50 unless i keep testing so frequently. I hope this gets better soon so i can get to a sustainable repeatable test routine. Yet i am super grateful to have this “problem”. :)
