First blue AMPS!

My question today is if we start to see some lower greens/limes, when does the MC/HC food come out?

I don’t have a good handle on how he reacts to food and haven’t really noticed food bumps with LC. Is there any sense in being proactive if I see him dropping to introduce some gravy?

As you start to seeing lower numbers, you might have to change up your feeding schedule based on numbers for e.g. might have to feed more often than every 2 hours. How much carbs you need to feed depends on (a) when the drop comes in the cycle (b) how hard the drop is and (c) how carb sensitive your kitty is. Generally, you will need more carbs earlier in the cycle, when the insulin action is stronger than you will need later in the cycle (although there are cats that like to dive at the end of bounce clearing cycles!). Unless it is a big drop and/or early in the cycle, you might want to start with his usual LC food to see if that is enough to bring numbers up. Here too, ECID. There was a cat that reacted to 9% carbs like other cats react to MC/HC! Over time you will collect data that will tell you how Pookey reacted to higher carb food and therefore, how carb sensitive Pookey. Like you are already doing, you want to note down what you fed and when.

OK, thanks Bhooma. We’ll stay the course with the scheduled LC unless something jumps out at me.

Hey Methos is ok with racing but he’s a bit concerned if Queen Ivy of the fluffy feet is strolling through green forests with Pookey. He’s keeping an eye out…and remains her obedient servant…

Poor guy can’t hop onto stool anymore and is too off balance from belly to feel secure if i lift him. His favorite spot was the stool in the center of my essentially one big room home. Or the island counter actually. If i yelled at him he’d jump down and crouch on the stool then slowly raise up so just his nose and eyes peeked over the counter and then pop his head up if i didn’t have a spray bottle in my hand.

Ahh - poor guy’s ears these last few days. Nothing wrong with them, just feel guilty, thinking to myself did I really need certain tests. I’m assuming it gets easier to spot a flat cycle once you know your cat?

Maybe I don’t need to hunt for both sides of the nadir every day…
