Hi,

I gave Theodore 4.5 units as his glucose was not coming down at 4.25 but today he got as low as 36, he increased quickly with honey and whiskas temptations.

My question is was I wrong to shoot a full dose at 130 ? Wasn't expecting this to crash. Also how long should I be monitoring him? Do I have to watch him overnight and for how long? He was acting FINE, I just randomly checked as I get nervous shooting so low :(

Did you double check that 36?

Monitor him for at least two hours after you last gave him higher carbs, to make sure the carbs don't wear off and his numbers go down as a result. When was that 101 in relation to when you fed the honey and Temptations?

You've shot full dose at lower than that before.

I did not recheck the 36

It was around 11:30PM I checked him when he was 36, I checked him about 20 minutes later at 101

OK, the spreadsheet shows 36 in the +2 column and the 101 in the +3, so it looks like an hour apart, which is confusing to me. Time matters when dealing with low numbers. In the +2 cell (provided that's where the 36 should go), I would put "36; 101@2.3"

Always good to double check lows, sometimes too small a blood drop gives an artificially low number.

Thank you, I will double check in the future, just panicked a bit. I'm staying up a little to keep an eye on him. Should I lower him to 4.25 in the morning?

Without a double check, we assume the 36 is correct, which mean reduce. How after the 101 did you get the 99? Looks like he was essentially flat.

I've been checking it every hour. Just checked his +5 and he's up to 124
