After her vet visit yesterday skipped insulin and sedation overnight. It looks like she’s coming back down from increased high levels of glucose today. She’ll get back into her regular and better range.

I already missed her first urine of the day which happened as I was preparing her food this morning so that was not great. I need to take a sample to the vet’s office. Hoping I can get another sample this morning.

Probably won’t get lab results until at least tomorrow or probably Thursday from the vet.

I hope everyone has a safe day :cat:

Hi Staci,

so good to see she went back to blue numbers so fast! Good girl! You got her so well regulated! Amazing job! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Sorry you couldn't catch urine today. Maybe Ivy did it on purpose to keep her privacy. :cat: I hope tomorrow you are lucky.

So glad you could take care of her fur yesterday. And I can imagine she did really enjoy it. Binie loves brushing but maybe with short fur it is less painfull because there are no knots and tangeled hairs.

Happy the vet tech survived and managed to take blood without further sedation. A towel really works wonders on Binie as well. Great they did a blood pressure check! I would love that on Binie too but as far as I understood, my vet she thinks it does not make sense as the blood pressure will be elevated because of the stress anyway. I am not sure if this is really a solution and I have to discuss it with her.

Didn't Ivy also go low the first time you went to this vet? I remember the alarm went off? So I am super glad everything went so well yesterday.

It's o.k. to bribe her with some food on special days like this! I'm sure today she is back to her regular healthy food. When I had gastroentestinal infections as a child, I was allowed to drink Coca Cola, even though we have been a water-only household. One bottle just for me.....

Hope Ivy stays stable tonight. Have a nice evening! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci , I'm glad the vet visit went well. She'll come back down. . Poor baby is still doped up from being sedated. Sending positive vibes her T4 has improved

Hi Diane, thank you so much. She felt better today and ate better. But she slept all day until after I got her to pee in a cup then I brought her upstairs for some sunshine. She needs her vitamin D.
Paws crossed about her labs.
Hope you have a nice night :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike,

I was glad to get her back to blues. She doesn’t like pinks. She was drinking a lot last night. Poor baby.
I’m sure, you’re right that a little bit if a bribe of some other foods just to jumpstart her appetite wasn’t the worst thing. I just wanted to get her eating and keep her stable last night. Luckily she seems a bit better today. Pretty much back to herself.

I must’ve been a pretty special event for you to have a Coke for your Gastro issues when it wasn’t really permitted in your household. I’ll bet you saved every sip :p

My prior vet felt the same way as your vet did in that she kept telling me her blood pressure would just be high because Ivy is so worked up but everything that I read about hyperthyroid was that it’s very important to get some readings so that you know where the blood pressure is. Luckily this vet practice has done it twice so far and hasn’t given me any pushback at all.

Ivy did go low a month ago at the vet when I was having her labs drawn. The last time I gave her a half a dose the morning of the lab work but she was fasting. I think because she didn’t have carbs in her system to combat the insulin, she took a dive And it was just very nerve-racking. The whole time I was there and she was diving. I had to take food with me and the vet tech had to give her some food as they were drawing the labs. It was not a great situation and I did not want to repeat that again. This time I just skipped insulin yesterday morning. I think it worked out OK she’s recovering OK today.

I’m glad Binie enjoys a good brushing. I think it’s a wonderful thing to do for them. It makes them feel good and it’s a good bonding session. I wish Ivy would allow me to do it more often, but she only lets me do it when she’s zonked. ;)

Thanks for checking on us today. I know you had a fell day with your vet appointment for Binie.
I hope your dose increase works some magic and Binie feels even better.
Hugs to you and Binie, Heike :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Fed her some 12.5%. Heading out to see a movie. DH staying home and “in charge”:p:joyful:
I asked him to monitor Ivy and the +1,2,3 snacks and make sure she eats.
Paws crossed he’s not sleeping by +1;)

I hope you get the results soon. I know the waiting is the worst.

It's on my list to see! I would also love to see the live show at some point. The music is just so good!
Thanks, Alicia.
Waiting is so hard.

Go see Wicked. You will love it. The music follows the musical. It’s really great. I’ve seen it numerous times. If you can see a touring company, do so.
It was the first musical I took my son to when he was 13 on Broadway and it changed his life (he’s a musical theatre savant now). So it was very full circle to see it with him 16 years later ❤️
(so glad Ivy cooperated and let us go)

11/21 - Poor Ivy, and poor you...such stress. I hope the labs show everything is ok and Ivy comes down safely and steadies out. Sending hugs- will try to check back later today for update. :bighug:
