Been awhile since I posted, Kona had a dental a couple weeks ago where they removed an oral growth that kept growing back. They had to extract three of her teeth to get it all as this was the second attempt from about 6 months ago. No cancer was found again, thank goodness.

She's doing well, hanging in there.

Today's Summary:

She's OK now, we just had a few bad days: she ate a lot of butter on Thursday and had 2 days of not eating, vomiting and diarrhea. She's fine now but that was not fun.

oh my, she was on the countertop again? That sounds terrifying, glad she is fine now.

Didn't she get into a piece a cake behind your back awhile ago and her numbers shot up. I think I remember that...

We can't leave anything out with these cats, can we? I can't turn my back for one second before Cleo is lurking behind me looking for scraps. Like we don't feed them enough or something... :rolleyes:

Yah, every morning I get tail slaps in the face to wake me up to feed her as she sits right next to the pillow. ha ha ha

Yeah, those pinks drive me crazy. I'm starting a new pen tonight, so hopefully fresh insulin might have more kick.

I think I'll be able to work more from home with the weather getting colder, so I'll feel more comfortable bumping her up to 1.5 units to see if we can reduce her time in 300s.
 
These cats eat better than I do… this is only like two months of food, there was a sale so I had to stock up. I use it to supplement with other foods and when BG numbers are high as it is the lowest carb.

If you use Chewy and can afford it, always take advantage of the spend $100, get $30 gift card. You can do it twice and they do it every few months or so.

Wow, that's impressive! A wall of cans.
Yes, Bella jumped on the counter again, stole a bar of butter that my son left out, and started eating it. She had quite a lot before I came back.
Before that she stol;e cake, scones (I was barely walking my d=friend to the door!), sourdough starter, pumpkin I just boiled, pieces of turkey from the compost bin, pepper jack, butter... and many, many more.
I love those waking up things they do. Bella licks my face sometimes, or she just sits and calls me loudly, and then waits, kind of creepy!

I haven't tried it yet, I just stumbled upon after trying to reup on my Abbot Precision Xtra ketone meter that I ran out of strips for. They are crazy like $4 per strip if you're lucky. I used to get them on Amazon from a reseller out of box, for like $1 per strip, but now all those sellers only have strips expired since 2018. Pretty weird.... almost make me think Abbot discontinued the meter or there's some sort of shortage in the market.

In any event, I ended up buying a KetoSens meter with a box of 25 strip or so and have used it and it appears accurate for ketones. Giving the same readings I'd expect from Kona when she's super high BG.

All that to say, I haven't tried this new one I just found, I will end up buying it as soon as I run out of KetoSens strips. Then I'll have three different ketone meters all because of the strip pricing nonsense. :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I have a Precision Xtra and you use two different types of strips with it — one type gives a BG reading, the other type gives a ketone reading. The strips are individually foil wrapped and color coded (purple foil for ketone, blue foil for BG).
