Good morning,
Last night was a calm flat blue night in the Libre. No Libre low alarms going off, so sleep was a good thing for my recovery
The am cycle was lovely and lower, a few dips where I gave a little bit of carbs to keep her coasting along and from dipping down too low.

The higher depot should be out of the picture so I think we should be able to get a better idea in the next day or so of how this dose is going to work. Of course, depending on her numbers, I will evaluate what I do with her dose.

Fed her 6% this morning since her BG was high enough to do so.

I’ll be cooking some food of hers today and making some of her higher 12% lamb recipe as I’ve depleted my stash since I’ve had to use it so much lately:cat:

Hope everyone has a safe day:cat::cat:

Good morning Staci.
Lovely cycles - Ivy's doing so well. I love seeing all those blues with dark greens in her SS :)
And yay! to sleep! So glad that you were able to sleep without Libre alarming you every hour!
Hope Ivy continues her steady cruising and you get to enjoy the day!

Hi Kit, thank you for the good wishes.
She’s going so well and I’m just hoping to get her stabilized on a good dose. That’s always the goal, right?
What an insane we have both had.
Yes the sleep was just incredible. Such a rare gem!

I hope Mikan has a good day and feels better today. Keep wishing every day to be better and better and hoping her numbers keep coming down.
Hope you have a good day, Kit!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

11/13- Ivy is having nice numbers ; hope the dose change works well. I guess I missed something...hope you are recovering from lack of sleep and not anything more serious....sending hugs and safe surfing wishes!

Hi Staci,

wow, great numbers!:cool::cool::cool: And so glad you got some sleep! Feels different, right? Really great that you see these numbers after having reduced 1 IU in only one week. But this shows, that something significantly changed to the better. Do you take bets for her next T4 levels?

I find it a bit surprising your vet doesn't see many cats with both, hyperthyroidism and diabetes. If you see how common both disease are in older cats, there must be many. Binie would be one, if we hadn't done the iodine treatment.

Good your vet advocates the libre. I already heard vets have different opinions about that. Our vet looked at Binies libre on Monday and said: "Good job." :)

Could be that our vets find us a bit nerdy how we manage our pets disease. But it's o.k. :p

Hope you have another restful night and a relaxed day with sweet Ivy! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think the only thing you missed was that she was having much lower numbers And she wasn’t responding to the higher carbs that I had been giving her to bring her up.
They used to work for her and then they stopped working, so I started reducing her insulin dosing in the past week or more and she seems to be much more flat And less crazy cycles.
I was up all night for days on end just trying to feed her to keep her up and the carbs weren’t doing it so it was a really bad week or so around here.
At the moment, I think we’re doing better with a little bit less insulin. I’ve dropped her down about a full unit over the past week or so. It’s been kind of a wild ride
We will test her T4 and all other values next Tuesday, but if I had to guess, I think it has something to do with the fact that we had increased her methimazole about a month ago and it seems like maybe once that kicked in perhaps the T4 went down and maybe that Caused the need for less insulin I don’t really know. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, It’s an interesting concept taking bets about her T4. We are so curious aren’t we about what we will see? Something clearly changed to precipitate needing less insulin all of a sudden. I’ll tell you it’s the first time in 2 years I’ve seen anything like that happen.

Yes, the sleep was unbelievable. Even though I still don’t sleep great it’s better than not sleeping at all so it’s a game changer. I don’t even remember what it’s like to sleep a full night anymore. I’m constantly looking at my phone through the night to make sure she’s OK. Every time I roll over I check the phone. Do you do that as well?
I’m glad your vet is happy with you using the Libre too. I actually haven’t had one vet think it’s a bad thing. They all seem to really be in support of it.

I definitely think it’s strange that he made the comment that he doesn’t see many cats with both diseases. It does seem so strange. I’m gonna have to ask him about that again probably next week when he calls me with the lab results I’m gonna have a conversation about it it just doesn’t sit right with me.

Well, I am wishing you and Biney sweet dreams and I hope a good rest for both of you. I know you both need a night of recovery :bighug::kiss::bighug:

It will be interesting for sure to see her T4 level. But whatever it is, maybe it's just that she is finally regulated, you found the perfect balance for her :bighug:
I hope you get a good night again, Staci!

I agree, Cecile. Wondering what’s really going on. A true mystery.
I hope you and Bella have a nice night, too :bighug:
