Good morning.

Mikan's still tired after the dental pulling 3 teeth yesterday. She's looking a bit shaggy this morning.
Her AMPS was as bad as I expected. I'm not expecting any big change for at least several days though.
I'm supposed to give her Onsior - it's a pill. I've always had a hard time giving a pill to a kitty - hope I can do it.

Thank you again for all your good wishes and support. I was a nervous wreck and your kind words really helped me get through this. I am forever grateful.

So glad to hear the dental went well. Sorry to hear about the 3 teeth being pulled but in the long run she will feel better. Do you have a pill shooter? As long as I use that to get way back into the throat it usually goes down easily.

Thanks, I am much much relieved that it's all done. You are absolutely right, it needed to be done. Two of those teeth were in bad shape.
I don't have a pill gun, but somehow, I was able to pop her mouth open and drop the pill. I think she was so surprised that she just swallowed it. I gave her a bit of water with a needleless syringe just to make sure.
She looks a bit unkept and grumpy but I assume she needs to rest for now.

Good morning.

I am able to pill Ivy and I roll the pill or capsule in a tiny bit of butter. It’s supposed to make it slide down easier, and then I follow it with a little bit of water from a dropper, which I shoot to the side of her mouth just to make sure nothing gets stuck in her throat.
Hopefully, she is still groggy enough that she will let you do what you need to do to get the pill into her.

She looks pretty shaggy - not grooming herself much - so I tried to brush her but she's not very enthusiastic about that either. I guess I just let her be. When she's ready, I can give her a good brushing session.

Oh I missed a lot....I'm sorry about the teeth and the aftermath, but once she detoxes the anesthesia and pain meds (I personally like the Onsior) she will be feeling much better and you will probably notice a difference in her BG. Wishing you a peaceful, relaxing day, and a speedy recovery and safe surfing for Mikan

I'm sure Mikan will get back to herself in a couple of days. Good luck with the pilling. I learned to put pills in the side of the cat's mouth to get it by the tongue so they can't spit it back out. I always gave a few treats afterwards to make sure the pill didn't get stuck in the throat.

Hi Kit -- I'm so sorry that Mikan isn't feeling like herself today. Dental work is no fun for anyone, so it's hardly surprising. Grooming is probably the last thing on her mind. It's great that you are able to pill her, and I hope the Onsior will help her get back to smiling soon. Plus she has a spa session to look forward to! I'm sure she'll enjoy a good brushing when the time is right.

It was an ordeal for my little Mikan, poor thing. But she was a brave little thing - much braver than her nervy momma
I couldn't do anything yesterday - had I tried, whatever it was, I would have completely screwed it up for sure.
Glad it's over and now it's just matter of time for her to start feeling better.

I find pilling much harder than subQ injection or even liquid meds.
Thanks for the tip! I have two more doses I have to give.
Giving her some treats is such a great idea. She'll like that, for sure!

It's hard to see her looking so shaggy - she's a fastidious kitty, you know.
But you are right. As she starts feeling better, it'll be all good. She actually has some matts on the tummy side - never had those before. I think she had not been feeling so good for some time now. Glad it's all taken care of now!

A little higher PMPS but she is looking a bit better. Still retreated but her eyes look brighter.
Day by day, I hope she feels better and her numbers start showing some improvement!

She tolerates the testing but she's not quite purring to the touch like she does normally. I tried to brush her but she's not liking it yet.
I know she needs to rest - it was a major trauma in the mouth for her. Poor baby.
But she's eating well so hopefully, she'll gain the healing momentum and return to herself soon.
