Thank you Bhooma for your reply. Yes, this was the calculator I have used.
So, this Fancy feast cod, sole, shrimp nutrient facts are

Crude Protein (min) - 12%
Crude fat (min) - 2%
Crude. Fiber (max) - 1.5%
Moisture (max) - 78%
Ash (max) - 3.25%

When I added all these info to the calculator, dry matter carb column shows “15”

And I tried calculating manually, using this formula https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/calculating-calories-from-carbohydrates.205128/

Adding all comes out to 96.75= carb= 3.25

Protein 12 x 3.5 = 42 calorie
Fat 2 x 8.5 = 17 calorie
Carb 3.25 x 3.5 = 11.38 calorie
Total = 70.38

Protein 42/70.38 = 60%
Fat 17/70.38 = 24%
Carb 11.38/70.38= 16%

This calculation shows “16%”

Am I missing any steps to get the carb? :nailbiting:

Using the GA values makes the calculations almost useless.

Fat min.2% means it could be 50% fat (just an example)

What we need are the ME values (Metabolized Energy) but to get that we need to know the "As fed" numbers.

But instead of trying to get all that information, in this case, looking at the ingredients pretty much tells you what you need to know. There's nothing in it that would cause it to be high carb.

Another thing you can always do is test it on your cat. Since ECID, what effects one cat might effect another one differently. Feed the food you have questions on and collect some testing data. Then try another food that's always been fine and compare the results.

Maybe it is little off / I am trying to find the cause of his BG not coming down. I thought it could be the food. Fancy feast pate was one of the food I gave him when he went to remission. Perhaps, I should try on other recommended foods from here and try to record precisely what I have given.

I see you feed Garfild 4% Fancy Feast, may I ask what type or flavor you are feeding ?

I have been feeding Gumung
Fancy feast poultry (chicken/ chicken & liver/ turkey),
Beef
Beef & chicken,
cod,sole, shirmp
Salmon

Out of all these turkey ones shows least Carb by the calculator.

I need to update my signature. My first diabetic, China, ate Fancy Feast chunky chicken as well as several of the other pates that were 2-6% so it averaged 4%

I used the values on Dr. Lisa's food chart, which hasn't been updated in awhile, but was right when China was here.
