Good morning,
Well yesterday was quite a day (as expected). The biggest challenge was that I gave 1/2 dose in the morning so I could fast her for the labwork.
And my fear of her diving lower without food came true :banghead:

Ivy doesn’t do well without food to combat the insulin. So I believe the next time I do this, I will skip her insulin when I need to take her for labs. It’s just not worth the stress or danger of her dropping low while going to and being at the vet and not being able to feed.

Not a great scenario :banghead:Glad that’s over for this time. Now we wait for the lab results, paws crossed for a better T4 result.

Her appetite isn’t great last night and this morning. Ivy had to convince her to eat and hold the bowl and spoon feed. (Maybe lingering sedation??)
Hope her full appetite resumes today.

Have a safe surf everyone :cat:

Hi Staci,
What a day for you and Ivy!
So stressful - must fast but BG dropping. It must have been so stressful for you. So glad you got through!
Yeah, sounds like it's best and safest to skip the dose next time she needs to fast!

I'm sure Ivy's exhausted too from the sedation AND vet visit. Might take a day or so for her to recover.
Hope she'll feel better today and her appetite comes back.

Hope this is a lot calmer day for you, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

I'm sorry to read her appetite was not great. That is always so stressful. I can imagine she need some time to recover. That was stressful for her too. I hope tomorrow she is her old happy self again!

I'm also happy it is over. All fingers and paws are crossed here for good results and that she is doing well on her dose.

I hope that was the last vet visit for a longer time but I completely understand, you don't want to combine fasting and insuline again. But you managed and it is over. Well done! And I am happy Ivy didn't eat the vet. :)

I hope both of you can recover today after this high stress event! :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Hi Heike, thanks for checking in and for your support today. I think she’s feeling a little bit better today. Still not completely back to her “sweet “ self :p

I did install a new Libre today and she was pretty good about it. I will activate it tomorrow morning

I actually just got a call as I was typing to you. The vet called with the results and said that her T4 level is the same as it was last month at 4.5 :arghh:
so he wants to increase The dose in the p.m. to 2.5 which is the same as I’m giving in the morning 2.5. And we will test again in another month. He wants to slow slowly tweak the dose and still feels it’s a low-dose we are giving her.
He said everything else on the labs looked staple and he’s going to email them to me so I can take a look at them.

Her urinalysis looked OK so that was good news too. I hope you also get good news on the urinalysis. Let me know when you hear something.
I’m glad to hear. Binie is feeling good today.
Sending you both lots of hugs. Hope you are already sleeping peacefully.:bighug::kiss::bighug:

Ugh ... so sorry about the T4. I know you were hoping for better news. It's scary and stressful to be reminded that things are not entirely under our control where our fur babies are concerned, but you are doing such a great job of managing Ivy's well-being. It sounds like your vet has a cautious approach and a plan, so all you can do is take it one day at a time (easier said than done, I know).

On the good news side, hooray for stable labs and urinalysis!

I hope Ivy is recovering from the day, and I hope you are too. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Karen, I agree he is being cautious and I appreciate that. He doesn’t want to be too aggressive since her overall condition is stable.
We have to hope that next month we see an improvement. So frustrating.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I really appreciate your support. Warm hugs to you and Chispa!

Hi Staci.
Sorry, to hear about the T4 results. Hopefully, with the increase of giving 2.5 in the evening brings better news next month.
Glad that Ivy's lab works are stable, and urinalysis was okay.
I know yesterday was a stressful day for you both. I hope that you both had a calmer day, and that Ivy is back to herself.
Butch and I are sending hugs and wishing you and Ivy a relaxing and safe night.

Hi Staci, sorry about the results about the T4. I hope increasing the dose at night will do the trick. I'm glad her other labs were good and the urinalysis.
We have to keep the faith . I hope today you and Ivy had a relaxing day :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat::bighug:

Hi Diane, thanks checking in with us. I’m pretty bummed about the T4, but hoping if we keep tweaking it she’ll get there. My poor girl I just want her to feel well and be as healthy as we can get her. It really sucks to have these multiple conditions to juggle.
You’re right, we have to keep the faith because there’s no other choice.
Wishing you a peaceful day today and I hope you are feeling well
