I've been using the auto-feeder (catmate) since March this year. After 7 months, the kitty cat finally figures out how to open the feeder. I tried to put weights on top of the auto-feeder to stop her from moving it. I put 10kg of weights on top of the feeder, but she still managed to move the feeder away from the weights. I tried taping the feeder to the floor, put 10kg weights on top and surround the feeder with weights. But she could still move it out of the block and tipped it over. And she is so sneaky. She waited the second we leave the house then started to mess with it. I am running out of ideas and i don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone give me ideas? Thank you~

Hi, could not help but laugh on how smart your cat is, there are several other types of wet cat feeders you can research on, It could be another option, Smart baby!:bighug::D:cat::cat:

My cat also kept flipping the cat mate automatic feeder over and making a mess especially because I was putting in wet food. No matter what we tried she always figured out a way to flip it (in her attempts to figure out how to open it). It resulted in the digital portion short-circuiting and it stopped working. We purchased the same one but this time screwed it to a wooden board hoping the extra weight would hamper her. This only resulted in her learning how to open up the top with ease! So many mornings we would walk into the room and see the top completely off and all food eaten. She would pretend she didn't know how to open the feeder when we were around and open it when we left. So, we put something irresistible in the feeder and just stepped back. She couldn't help herself and it took her less than 2 seconds! She was pressing one of the side "buttons" with her mouth/teeth and slide her arm underneath the lid and lift it off! We were astounded at how easy it was for her. Once my husband screwed it in tighter she couldn't open the lid anymore, but continued to harass and flip the feeder. We then selected a heavier board--still didn't work. Finally, I added an anti-slip mat underneath the board. She occasionally will try to mess with the feeder and try to drag it off the mat but she's pretty much given up because it's very difficult.

Our current solution: Lift off the lid and tray. Screw (at least 3 screws, 2 is not enough) the bottom of the feeder into a heavy wooden board. The feeder should be tightly attached to the board. The side button tabs will be harder to press in, but it'll still be possible for you as a human to open--not for your cat. Lastly place an anti-slip mat underneath.
