I am seeing people use this medicine. I don't know if any kitty who is diabetic can use this? Thoughts on its effectiveness? Miss Mink hates the insulin shots and I was wondering if this might be better.
Ah okay, I see. Thank you! I will remove this question as I didn't see the other forum. This is our post on the newer diabetes treatments. The immediate issue for Minky is that Bexacat is not recommended for use with a cat that has already been prescribed insulin.
I couldn't find a place to delete it so I left it. I just wanted to make sure as you said it would be good for her? Or it wouldn't be good?No need to remove the question, others may have similar questions.
One thing to add to what Sienne said, there is an increased chance of DKA/ketones with Bexacat, so that definitely wouldn't be good for Minky.
It was easier. Still did ear sticks (primarily for ketones) but no hypo worries, no dose adjustment. Unfortunately quite a bit of risk. Maybe in time with more data they can better predict which cats benefit and which don’t.@SmallestSparrow and @Wendy&Neko thank you for sharing all of that; I definitely would not even think about using it in that case. Sometimes when you see something that would be easier, it looks intriguing. I love my baby too much to chance it. Thank you both for explaining it to me.
