@Bandit's Mom

What do you think? Maintain this balance for one more day or should I shoot 5.5? Would there be significant risk of bouncing right away if we increase the dosage?

Update: I decided to give him 5.25 following the rules. But...I tried to change to his shooting location from the middle to the side based on the thicker skin conversation we had...and I am not very familiar with the shooting site. So I gave him a fur shot. I am positive most of the insulin didn't go in (based on the amount of liquid on his fur). But to be safe I only gave him 4 units.

I really need to catch a break with him at this point. I haven't done a fur shot in half a year. The last two weeks have not been good for us. Not at all.

Sorry @Mai & Dad, I'm only just seeing this. The reason I was asking you not to increase in a cycle when he looked like he was clearing a bounce is because bounce clearing cycles have additional downward momentum as it is and you don't want to add an increase to the mix.

I can imagine how bummed you are about the partial furshot today, but he will recover. You mustn't be so hard on yourself!

Let's see what he does today and you could probably increase tomorrow morning.

@Mai & Dad
I’ve just seen in the SS you gave 4 units after you gave a fur shot.
Please never give more insulin after you give a fur shot. We never recommend you do this.
You really don’t know how much got into the body and to give more insulin is very risky. Please make sure you monitor closely this cycle.

Thank you for all the kind and encouraging word! I have updated his results. Thankful he didn't have too crazy of a day.

Thank you for the tip! I really appreciate it. I will be more careful the next time. I really only decided to do it because it was a LOT of liquid...and I was planning on monitoring him through the day.

His PMPS today was 278 and his +2 is currently 351.

I am actually a bit confused now, why is he hanging at such high number? He seems to be consistently high last two days and we don't see any period of blue or any green registered anymore. Is this an extended bounce or does he need more insulin?

I switched from the repackaged insulin to Lantus Pen yesterday and now he is getting a small tsp of food every two hours. Could this be the reason?

In addition, he has been throwing up pretty much 2~3 hours before his AMPS and PMPS daily. It's typically just foam / water / a tiny bit of food.

Let's give it one more cycle at least. That will be 6 cycles from the last green and enough to clear any bounce.

When does he get the last meal in the cycle? Some cats throw up due to acid build up if there is a long gap between meals.

Sounds good. I will shoot him 5.25 tmr morning then. Thank you!

In the last two days, I have been giving him a tsp of LC wet food at +2, +4, +6, +8, and +10. So his last meal in the cycle would be +10. But I also cut his main meal to count for the smaller meals through the day, could that be the issue here?

It should not be...he has been throwing twice a day daily? How many days now?

I wouldn't say twice a day daily. More like once per day. But In the last two days, he did throw up three times. A small bit of food before PMPS 10/12, then mostly clear water this morning before AMPS 10/13, and tonight about 2 hours before PMPS. I thought it was mostly due to the consistently high (~300) glucose. Before last two days, he mostly throw up toward the end of bounces. Do you think this could be something else? I have been testing his ketone mostly 2~4am in the morning (+4 ~ +6 PMPS) and they all came negative.

Do you think this could be something else? Now I am a bit worried. He has also been pooping way less ever since switching to the new food and only once per two days, but I searched online and it seems normal for grain-free diet.

Does he drink a lot of water and then throw up? Or eat too fast and throw up? Could he be trying to dislodge a hairball?
Anything that has changed in the last few days besides more meals?
Pooping less in terms of quantity or frequency?

Hmm...if I'm being honest, I am not sure if he drinks a lot of water and then throw up. With that being said, he does tend to drink more toward the end of a cycle as well. He used to eat his main meal before shot really fast, but we now use a deep fish bone plate that slows him down significantly. And I think the one tsp of food he probably can just swallow in one bite so it shouldn't really be an issue?

I am glad you mentioned hairball. Because he used throw up hairball regularly. He hasn't done it once since he become diabetic. I definitely haven't seen one for a few months. His churu at both +2 are hairball control ones, but I don't know how much it helps.

Both actually. Before switching to his LC food, he was pooping pretty consistently once per day, or maybe twice every three days. And each time he would produce more waste as well.

Update: His +4 is at 348. Going to sleep now, will set up feeder for +6, +8, and +10. Will test again at AMPS.

Ketone negative at +4.
