Pet sitter info & forms

I'm going to have to go out of town
Does anyone have a "what to do/ how to do, etc w/ pics 101 "for a furbaby sitter 101?

I know there would be some.. fill in the blank.. items as all our babies are different.
I have tried to do this on the computer and it becomes a book which is not helpful when is too wordy.
I have tried to find a pet sitter versed in feline diabetes but have had no luck. I'm hoping someone out there has gone through the same dilemma as I have and somewhere someone has something like this.
I did find a small list from the main page but it's from 2008 and I need a bit more detail. Thank you in advance.

Could you or some other member help finding the Pet sitter list for this member? I cannot locate it
 
I would suggest contacting your vet's office. Often, one of the vet techs may have a side business of pet sitting. If you're familiar with the Next Door phone app, I'd join and post there or look through posts. It's a great app for finding services in your community.

I agree with Sienne, I have had the need for a Pet sitter in the past, and My Vet had a list or known Pet sitters train for several cat illness especially on diabetes, if you hire a commercial sitter, make sure this person can and will follow directions correctly, or perhaps you may have a neighbor or friend that you can instruct on feeding and dosing,:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:

I have a sitter, I just need something like a "Diabetic Pet Sitter 101" type form or reference guide for the sitter ( with fill in the blanks if possible & how to pics) in case she needs something to refer back to.
I will also have her sign up here for help if needed.
 
I don't believe we have any form. What I would suggest is to either take photo of a syringe that's filled to your cat's dose or leave a syringe that has a colored liquid in it as something for your sitter to compare with what she's doing. We've had sitters think that a dose of 0.5u was 5u and that was clearly a problem.
 
I had to board a couple of my diabetic cats once at the vet's office. Because they had recently assigned a new vet to me and we had a strong difference on how to properly care for a diabetic cat, I wrote out very explicit instructions for the vet techs. I included that each cat had to be tested with the meters I provided before every shot, what dose they should receive and what was my "don't shoot" number. I also included that none of these instructions were to be overridden by the vet unless I was contacted first and gave permission for the changes. Fortunately the vet techs followed my instructions as I requested. You could do something similar for your sitter, including a picture of a syringe showing how the dose should look in it.

Can you tell I was not very happy with the new vet? I lasted longer with that clinic than she did and it wasn't even my fault that she left. :rolleyes:
