Help Need Advice Lulu has Diabetes and Addison's disease

Hi, I am Betsy Lulu is a 20 year old cat with diabetes for 8 years. She began having dangerously low blood sugar in January and after several ER visits, we ended up decreasing her ProZinc insulin from 4 units 2x daily until we got dpwn to as safe level at 3/4 unit 2x daily. She was stabilized for a while on that but she is again having some very low nadirs with her insulin and is too often too low for her PM shot which is not good. She is dehydrated and on subQ fluids daily and although she eats a lot, she is still losing weight which is our greatest concern. She was diagnosis with probable Addison's recently and has been on fludrocortisone for 3 month and just started prednisone. She was at 8 lb. to begin with (slightly overweight) but now she is down to 4lb 13 oz -5lb 4 oz weighing her before and after 150 cc of Lactated ringers. Most of her blood work is pretty good for a cat her age and she is still active and happy so I don't want to give up yet. Resent test results are on the previous thread. Her previous thread got too long so I am starting this new one here for help with her confusing and complex conditions. Her 1st link below got too long so I am starting this new one for help with both of her conditions. The second link is on the ProZinc board. I think I put it there by mistake but I could still use help on her insulin issues as well.

@Suzanne & Darcy

Thank you, I added your suggestion to the title.

@Lulu's person
Hi to get more attention to your post I would go back to your title and put in front of Lulu has Diabetes and put ? Help Need Advice
To the right tap on Thread Tools then tap on Edit Title and add this then tap save

Can you set up our spreadsheet where we keep track of our cats BG numbers , it will also explain how to use it
https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/how-to-create-a-spreadsheet.241706/

I looked at the instruction page and the Google spread sheet and I don't use Google. It also looked complicated. She is almost always within range with only a few lows in her nadir, a few flat curves and a few PMPS...too low to shoot at 200 because she has occasional huge drops into dangerously low levels. I may try to do the chart if necessary but it seems to be for very unregulated glucose, not sporadic or specific anomalies like we have.

Can you on send me the data? I could try to set up the spreadsheet for you (on my name for google, so you won’t have to create an account)

Wow, that is such an amazing offer. I hate to put you out but I am almost as old as Lulu in people years and technology has finally passed me by (I hate to admit it). What information would you need and are you sure it is not too much of an inconvenience? We do daily curves 8Am; 2Pm; 8Pm; with rechecks if she is too low but do not get up at 2Am unless she is having a situation that concerns us. Thank you so much. You can look at her data and see if you think a spreadsheet would help. Thank you so much.

This is the curve I copied from an article on the ProZinc forum. I can't find the link now but Lulu s almost always within this range. Lu lu is almost always within this range except when she isn't.

I guess it’s not too much work, don’t mention it.
I’ll just need dates & times of BG checks, as well as insulin dose. When do you give her her insulin, at 8am/8pm?
It’s really not so much work, and it enable us to see what you see but we don’t!

Yes, her insulin is 8 am and 8 pm. How should I give you the information. Can I start a conversation? I will just have to copy it from her daily curve sheets, right?

Diane, What a beautiful boy! I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for your help. Betsy

Sorry! Time difference to account for my lack of response here!
Yes you can send me a private message, if you prefer you can send me directly an email but not aure if it’s allowed to give private emails here?

No, we are not give out personal data such as personal emails, unless to the administrators, when asked

We just don’t want to give out personal information like home address, phone numbers and email addresses on a public thread. If you and another person exchange private contact information in a private conversation, that is okay and it’s your business.

I am not sure what you are talking about, Maria. I am simply stating that, for privacy reasons because this is a public forum, we do not put personal contact in on a public thread, such as the one we are commenting on right now. If people wish to share personal contact information with another member via a private message (conversation as we call it here) they are free to do so. Extensive personal information is not required to become a member so nobody would have asked you for it (just an email address as I recall and some optional information that you can share on your profile.)

I am sorry I misunderstood your response that of Lulu's , my apology

I didn't see anyone even mention sharing private information on the forum except in the abstract and mentioning that it was NOT ALLOWED. I think the whole thing was misunderstood and blown out of proportion. The "conversations" are not really private either so IMHO no one should even share personal information there. I just thought a "conversation" would let us keep our extraneous conversation from cluttering Lulu's forum. Even though it might be nice to have personal contact with one or some of the lovely people here, we should all know that there is not any private and safe way to give out personal information on any internet forum. So, please, let's stick to helping each other here on the forum. Thank you.

I believe the conversations are actually private. Just FYI. I didn’t bring the subject up, but I was clarifying that you are allowed to share contact information in a conversation— otherwise people would not be able to share/ship things like insulin or other diabetic supplies that are posted in the supply closet. And don’t worry about me and Corky’s mom, Maria, we are old friends! I love Maria and Corky. I’ve been helping her with Corky’s ProZinc dosing for a few years now (although now that he’s in great numbers most of the time I don’t need to help her very often!) @CORKY ❤️

Oh, and I am sorry to mention this because I forgot to before — regarding private conversations, one thing that is against the FDMB rules is the giving of dosing advice in a private conversation. So if people write to me in a conversation asking for dosing help (which is perfectly fine in order to get my attention) I will then hop on over to their most recent thread and make all dosing comments there on the public thread. The FDMB is a peer reviewed forum. It is for safety as well, to make sure the dosing recommendations are public and can be seen by others. In addition to this, it is helpful for those who read along and are trying to learn but don’t post their own threads.

Lulu got an antibiotic from the vet today, just in case her blood work indicated infection vs. just inflammation. It can't hurt a this point and it will be good to know that there is no hidden infection causing or exasperating her condition. The prednisone she started last week has seemed to reduce her stress and make her feel better. She is being less clingy and acting more like her old independent self but not hiding so that is good. I almost miss her being on my lap all day every day as she has been doing. So far there is no negative effect of the prednisone increasing her blood glucose and it is to soon to know if it is helping some unknown inflammation. So we are hitting the possibilities from both sides and hoping one or the other helps her continuous weight loss and dehydration. Please, everyone cross your fingers.
