Hi, I am coming up for air. Baby has been doing really well overall. Eating, drinking and using the litter box normally. She is getting a little tired of me poking her so I know she is definitely feeling better. Looking at her spreadsheet the two times she was running high: 1. I went out of town for a very very short trip. My trained my husband how to care for her and I am thinking he may have missed the mark with the injections being a new injector and Baby has long hair. 2. The other day when the kibble was left out for my other cat and not put away after she ate. Baby may have gotten in to the kibble?? I am not certain.
When i dropped her dosing down to 1 that was not ideal in my opinion. I have had her back on 1.25. Do you have any suggestions so that I may help keep Baby regulated? What is your evaluation as I am moving more forward and out of crisis mode and learning more each day.

Hi ladies can you please look at her SS , I'm not familiar with a pet meter and when you earn a reduction. Thank you
By the way her kitty had DKA in 9-6-24
I'm not sure if she is following the SLGS method correctly so please look at her SS

Your signature says you are following SLGS so you would take reductions every time the bg drops under 90. If you are still feeding all wet could you could switch to TR. If you switch reductions are under 68 so even with our more aggressive method you would need to take a reduction to 1.25 for your cat’s safety. You have shot a full dose with the bg under 68 and that’s dangerous, especially when several hours go by like happened on 9/17. When you do that you are risking your cat going hypo. The 1.25 dose is too much insulin for her and I am worried. You never want to give insulin under 68 with a pet meter. When that happens, stall, feed a teaspoon of lc or nothing and see if the bg rises in 30 minutes. With SLGS it needs to be over 150 being new to insulin. We usually say 200 but you have shot a lot lower.
The higher bg you see if from bouncing. When the bg falls lower than a cat is used to the pancreas reacts and the bg goes way up. Bouncing can last as many as 4-6/cycles or clear quickly.

Again 1.25 is too much and even 1.0 might be too high a dose.
 
Ok. I am clearly not understanding the method. I am not intentionally trying hurt Baby. I am reading and thinking I am understanding and I am clearly not. I do appreciate your guidance. So looking at where I am and the SS for today…I should have reduced the dose based on the AMPS and for the PMPS, done nothing, or fed lc then retested in a couple of hours since she was at 167? I am just trying to understand.

You need to reduce the dose tomorrow morning and give only 1 unit

Thank you. I am reading on the SLGS method that I should have started with a .5 dose from day one. My vet advised 1 unit every 12 hours. So I messed up from day one. I can’t go back. I need to move forward. I was basing my question on the preshot guidelines on Q4.4 of the SLGS sticky. I understand what you are advising and I will reduce for sure at the next dose. I just checked her at +3 and I will check again at +6.
I just received my human meter keto Mojo right now. I am switching to the human meter. I will change the values on the SS.
 
I don’t think you are trying to hurt her. With a 47 you need to feed high carbs or honey and test again in 20-30 minutes. Feed small amounts at a time. A 47 on a human meter is super low.

Good that was with the new meter. Still too low as you know. You will reduce in the future if the bg is under 90. That becomes your new dose for 7 days unless another reduction is earned for falling under 90 again. Pet meters tend to read higher than human meters which is why under 68 could lead to a symptomatic hypo buy that number is 68 with a pet meter. That’s why I was so concerned. That being said just because the bg is that low does not mean your cat will be symptomatic. You just need to monitor closely if the bg drops that low until it gets back up and stays up without high carbs for 2 hours.

Do you know how to put a blank line above the date 9-22 and Type Human meter as of PM test
So it stands out , that's how we like you to do it

I see you put the Keto Mojo up top on your spreadsheet but you need to add the date next to it when you started using, because members will think you were using it all the time ,so please fix it
And in your signature do the same after the Keto Mojo just add after it as of and the date
