We have an 80 lb dog, 2 healthy weight, non-diabetic cats, and our Batman who is chunky and diabetic. Auto feeders that only one cat can open were expensive, I gave up a lot of things to save for them, and it was worth it.

Each cat can only open the food bowl for their own feeder via a little bobble they wear on their collar. It opens when they stand over the bowl and all three learned this on the first day.

I put wet food in them even though they were designed for kibble. They have shallow, removable stainless trays that lift right out.

In the morning I put in everyone’s feeder the amount of LC wet food I would like for them to eat. Two hrs before Batman’s evening shot I wash all the dishes and leave them out until evening shot time when I feed again, give them an hour to eat and then empty the dishes and wash. (I do check to see if Batty is eating during the day and spoon feed him if I see he needs a snack.)

At 9:30, nearing our bedtime, I have a very special auto feeding set up that gives my two healthy boys a small amount of the kibble they live for! When this auto feeding drops it sounds like a slot machine and they run like kittens to it! Batty gets a special tablespoon of LC topper or freeze dried treat at this time which I present specially to him.

Dog NEVER gets any cat food even though it’s on the floor!

Hope this helps another family managing feeding their own small zoo! (Photo is of a non-diabetics feeder and his kibble treat in it)
