Bell's numbers continue to be awesome. I continue to be on my tip-toes :). I'm fairly confident that if I don't intervene often with small amounts of food, Bell would drop under 50 on this dose. She is just cruising in these greens. I wonder if she will bounce after hitting that 53 today.

Her anal gland seems to be healing nicely. I talked to the vet tech today and asked if it was possible to do an antibiotic wash of the gland to have a more localized treatment than just oral antibiotics. The vet was going to sedate her in a couple weeks and take a closer look at the gland, but she decided to use that appointment to talk through moving forward with this and talk through options. We'll schedule the sedation and closer examination after that appt. I think she wants to make sure the wound is fully healed before she really gets in there. Bell's bilious vomiting syndrome makes any sort of fasting longer than 2-3 hours extremely hard on her (and me). She's spent all night throwing up bile for her dentals. I want to talk through if a full night fast is really necessary for this sedation.

Bell has had a little diarrhea with the antibiotic, which she didn't have previously on the same antibiotic. I do have some Pro-pectalin from the last time (which I didn't need) but I'm going to give her a few days to see if goes away naturally. She's been on a good, multi-strain probiotic throughout all this.

Bell's BG is amazing. She looks sooo good! Hope her other situations can become as good as her BG is looking. Glad she doesn't need the cone and I hope your vet can remedy the issues.
Fasting them is so complicated when they have multiple situations going on.
Sending good wishes to you and Bell:bighug::bighug:

Thank you Staci! Her BG numbers are unbelievable so absolutely no complaints, but the amount of monitoring is becoming unsustainable with work. I luckily have a bunch of vacation to burn here at the year end so I can keep managing it in the short term. Today she decided to sleep under the middle of the bed, so I’m belly-crawling under the bed during a conference call trying to get enough room for an ear poke. My shoulders got wedged in and I was a little stuck for a bit with my face right next to her. Couldn’t help but laugh. I truly wonder what she thinks I am doing for the past few months. She must think I’ve lost it.

Yea. I hear ya on the crazy stuff we gotta do. I’m sure she had a good laugh at your twisted self under the bed:rolleyes:

It’s great you can use your vaca time to hopefully get her stabilized and (anti jinx) maybe even reverse the condition. She’s doing so well so soon. It looks promising (don’t want to say it too loudly or jinx anything, shhhhh).

You’re both doing really great. Keep doing whatever you’re doing. And then bottle and sell it!! :p

I get not even wanting to say it! Thank youuuuuuu.

No, not if the current recommendations for anaesthesia for diabetics is followed. See post two here: Info on Dental Procedures (including pictures)
Oh woah, this is great info. I had read that 3 hours was really enough time for fasting, but that table is way better and helps me on insulin dosing questions too.

I’m not sure if the “sedation” the vet is considering for the anal gland check is a full anesthesia like during a dental or if it is more of a “lala land” drug, if there is such a drug for cats. Maybe it doesn’t matter. I clearly don’t know what I’m talking about here :p. This will help me a bunch when we discuss options in a few weeks. Thank you!

Neko got a little "feisty" at some vet procedures and needed sedation, not anaesthesia, for example for an echocardiogram. No problem feeding her before sedation. She would have been really grumpy if no food!
