Not knowing your sleep cycle or how heavy you sleep - when Kit is going low at night I try to catch quick cat naps (hahah) between tests if I'm doing on the hour tests. That only works if you're able to wake up to an alarm (or have someone wake you up). If I have to sleep more than a couple of hours my ability to wake up for an alarm is much more suspect. But also, if you've had a bunch of nights where you haven't gotten sleep, or you have something the next day and you know you need to get some sleep, feed some MC to basically stop the cycle. As long as it's a sometimes thing, it's not a bad trick to have. I've done it if I know I have to go to work or if I know I have to be up early and not getting enough sleep will be a safety issue. You as the caregiver have to be able to take care of yourself as well. That whole put your own oxygen mask on before anyone else's sort of thought.well we survived last night.
dealing with greens over some hours in the 60s for first time.... he did so good, little champ. i just am trying my best not to be sleep deprived and thus irritable.. but we doin our best.

For ways to stay awake? Some people are fans of coffee - I unfortunately think it smells great and tastes terrible, so it may work for you, but I have no anecdotal evidence. I get more snacky when I'm trying to stay awake, or I'll walk around to keep my energy going.
That I'm uncertain of, sorry. It would all depend on how much it took to bring him up just enough to keep him at levels where you're able to feel comfortable. And it would be a rare usage.how many drops to maybe put if you might know?..
I have so many alarms set to remind me when I need to feed Kit. So. Many. Otherwise I get distracted.oh dear im trying to remember all the things im meant to (also trying to eat myself..) and was late giving him snack at +4.. i forgot (he had to remind me..)

So last night for example, I would have stopped testing at +5.75. Pudge was flat and basically at/past nadir and surfing in those healing greens.just need some help w my sleep in these cases for time being… any ideas

Here is an excerpt from the Basics Sticky describing an active cycle
Example of an ACTIVE, but NOT necessarily typical Lantus and glargine biosimilars cycle:
NOTE: Until kitty is pretty well regulated, the description below is NOT not what you'd consider a "typical" Lantus/Basaglar/Semglee cycle. It takes time and patience for kitty to achieve a "typical" cycle! The example below is what you're working towards (a nice shallow curve). A relatively flat cycle is the ultimate goal.
+0 - PreShot number.
+1 - Usually higher than PreShot number because of the last shot wearing off. May see a food spike in this number.
+2 - Often similar to the PreShot number. Onset begins around +2 for most cats. You'll probably see an active cycle if the +2 is the same/similar OR lower than the preshot number. Continue testing!
+3 - Often lower than the PreShot number.
+4 - Lower.
+5 - Lower.
+6 - Nadir/Peak (the lowest number of cycle. NOTE: ECID. Not every cat has a mid-cycle nadir. Adjust the hours on this example to fit your cat.)
+7 - Surf (hang around the nadir number).
+8 - Slight rise.
+9 - Slight rise.
+10 - Rising.
+11 - Rising (one of the quirks of Lantus/Levemir/Biosimilars: some cat's blood glucose numbers dip around +10 or +11... not to be confused with nadir).
+12 - PreShot number.
Things like syrups show up more quickly than a high carb food, I believe, but they also leave the system faster. So that's a thing to be aware of (for this but also for low bg moments.)thats good to know..how fast do/should the carbs show up on tests if you might know?
and same now! haha.. lots of alarms. and when tired sometimes i mess em up (the time..) or sleep thru em..but do out best!!
