Snits 7/24 OTJ Trial Day 12 AMBG 68 PMBG 72

Snits spreadsheet is beautiful to look at. :D:D:D

How is Snits acting these days?

She's acting good! She has hairballs a lot some weeks, and sometimes I need to adjust her miralax, but other than that she's good. She sleeps a lot, but that's not abnormal. Her neuropathy is noticeably better. Only thing I'm a bit concerned about is that she hasn't gained any weight despite getting fed 2 cans of friskies a day. She hasn't lost any weight though, she's holding strong at 11.2-4 pounds. I have to remember that it's only been a little over a month and she wasn't eating as well as she has lately.

Not losing weight is good. Also a good idea to keep track of how her weight is trending. Keep an eye on the hairballs. Frequent hairballs is not normal. Have you mentioned hairballs to the vet? Next time she has blood work done, might want to consider a GI panel, or at least test her B12 levels. That is cobalamin B12, not methyl B12. If low, she could be having a harder time absorbing the nutrition from her food.

Will do! I guess I shouldn't say she has A LOT of hairballs, more like she has trouble working up the hairballs she has. My other cat has coughed up a few this summer too, which I've never seen before. It's a new location (i've moved) so the change in weather may have something to do with it. Either way, I'll have him look into it for her next visit. So the nutrition absorption from the food is interesting. Before I got her treatment for her diabetes her face got super gaunt and now it's full again despite being the same weight. I've looked around the internet and it said this could also be an issue with absorption. Have you ran into this?

Yes. There are some other conditions that can cause a cat to have low B12. I have some experience with a couple GI conditions in cats, though oddly enough none had low B12 when tested. So it's "can have" not "will have" low B12.
