well tonite was interesting.. he refused our usual routine. kinda started this morning. wouldnt stay and eat and get meds where we usually do; stayed a bit and wanted out.. think cuz he knew i was prepping giving the shot. improvised another place cuz he went to a spot he chills and where we sometimes have him eat (i like to come to him wherever he is..). and so he got his shot there too. he seemed kinda surprised it was fast and easy haha.. same haha but, we’ve been doing this for some months now and he needs it so he got it.. with this PMPS he wasnt missing it. i kinda like this routine a bit more too. what matters is being able to do it when you need to.. just hoping i tented correctly, tho it was indeed easier w him lying down. :)

maybe hes tired of the shots.. maybe just sick of things. or not sure if feeling a bit bad today.. with these numbers.. tho hes acting ok tho (for what is normal rn i guess.. these numbers are really stinky sometimes :blackeye:.. having blues! but wondering whether to increase or wait if bounce is still present idk tho cause he did have those blues… not sure what to make of these higher PS now again.. suppose it depends..)

thinking… let him eat, then give him the shot. test and let him eat fully in peace then give the shot after.. not during eating sometimes. (?) know some actually wait a little while then give the shot anyway :cat: . thoughts?

plan on seeing new vet tmw/soon.. shes a distance away but looks holistic plus other things and would like to just have someone else too.. having another opinion/eyes just desirable.. and not sure if anything going on.. dont think so. but happy to just see where maybe stand.. hoping it worthwhile tho.. :/ unimpressed from before being started on Vetsulin, etc.. know some good time was lost for us. also know some have good luck w it.. but alas.

who knows really.. :blackeye::bookworm:

I typically give Cleo her shot as she face plants her face in the food. :p

Looks like Pudge could use an increase. Maybe you want to start Wednesday PM or even Thursday AM, after the Vet visit?

I have given Kit shots on the counter, on a towel in the living room, while she's laying on luggage in the walk in closet, angling my head into a cat cube, contorting myself into a pretzel on the floor of the linen closet, on the couch, on all three recliners, and on both beds. And probably other places I've forgotten. My typical routine is to test, shoot, feed - all within about 3 minutes. And as long as she eats a little, it's okay. And I have little tricks if she's being iffy. But that's because I know that I always feed her at +1 and probably +1.5 if needed, so I'm not too worried about filling her up. But I know it's not the recommended routine. And a lot of folks do shoot as the cat is eating, as Angela mentioned. They're usually nice and distracted then. :joyful:

Good luck with the new vet! Right after Kit's diagnosis, we found a new vet. We got lucky to find one who does house calls, which is amazing for Kit's stress levels.

Neko took about 30 seconds to inhale her food. So I typically gave it wherever she was at the time. Often that was in her bed or my lap. But it also included in the car (while stopped, at a ferry lineup, on the ferry), at my mother's house.

I agree with Angela, Pudge could use that increase. We don't wait for the bounce to be over to increase. But we do try to avoid increasing on the same cycle as they break the bounce, as that type of cycle already has downward momentum. Adding an increase that cycle just makes it more "interesting".

i just want to make sure he eats well rn undisturbed and then concern myself with giving shot :cat: its actually less stressful for me too haha.. cuz i was kinda always rushing rushing :( to make sure he ate then got it before he was done. happy to do this if he wants ~ jumped down again, so did same routine like last night.. was good :cat:

ok to increase.. :arghh::woot: trying to think what day this week can make it to vet. thought today but might move to Fri/Sat.. so increase tonite/tmw?.. :bighug:

Kit currently has monthly visits because she gets a shot each month for her arthritis. The house call itself is $42, plus whatever the extra costs are (shot is $78 a month, then if there's claw trims or bloodwork). It is reasonable for me, but I'm also in a double income with no kids household.

Hi Have your found the arthritis shot to work? My cat takes adequan but we have not taken on board the new arthritis shot that is out there in the last year.

It does help - I can definitely tell at the end of the month when she's due for another shot that it's time. But it hasn't restored her to her sprightly youth (which, she's almost 17.5, so I'll take the small wins). It's also hard to tell right now because she developed neuropathy towards the end of last year/beginning of this year. We tried adequan for awhile, but it didn't really seem to do much for her? I know there are folks that rave about the Solensia, and others who it hasn't worked for at all, unfortunately. It does take a few months to see any effects. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the info! Yes when I looked up about Solsensia it seemed mixed results and at 70-80/ month I have hesitated to take the leap!
