First day at 20u. Our vet does not feel comfortable prescribing Cabergoline for Puddin - he wants us to see the specialist at NC State for this. We have an appointment scheduled there for August 22nd, 2 months away. This was pretty disheartening as this is the second vet to give up on helping us with Puddin. When I informed our first vet about his Acromegaly diagnosis he responded saying "And what do you want from me?". I guess all we can do now is continue with increasing insulin.

That's unfortunate. We had one of our members have to shop around, I think it was 3 vets, before finding someone willing to prescribe it. Did you give the vet the latest paper on it? Are there any other internal medicine vets you can get into sooner?

I’m sorry (((Bella))). It must be so frustrating to have a vet behave like that. How unprofessional and disheartening. Your sweet baby Puddin deserves much better. Thank goodness he has you for a mama. Sending you many hugs and caring support :bighug:❤️:bighug:❤️

I told him I would send him the latest papers/studies on it and he said this is not an area that he's well versed/strong in and also not interested in. I will check for additional internal medicine doctors nearby.

Thank you for the kind words, Staci - I can feel your sweet hugs. It is frustrating, but something will be figured out eventually and we, of course, will keep loving and caring for Puddin the best that we can!

Ugh, I guess I've been lucky to have had vets willing to learn if they didn't know about a subject area.
I really thought this vet was going to find this situation even interesting (with it being so "rare", as they say). He's also young. He really gave me the impression initially that he wanted to learn with us, that's why this response was surprising (disheartening).

I know you will do everything you are able to Bella. You’re doing wonderful with him. He’s such a sweet, young baby. I wish you all the best on his behalf :bighug::cat::bighug:
