Hello All,

After Butch cleared his bounce yesterday, we had another eventful night. He was dropping pretty quickly PMPS +3 43 LIBRE. I know the Libre numbers read lower than other human monitors, but I am unable to test with anything else. Oh boy, I do get little nervous when I see quick dropping which he usually does even with some food at the +1 and snack at +2. I gave Butch a higher carb 13% tsp at the +3. He came back up at +4 and +5 80, that was my last data.

New Libre sensor that I replaced on 6/27, fell off right before his AMPS :( The app did indicate "high Glucose" before it hit the ground! That usually means high 200s, so it looks like another bounce from last night greens  I won't be able to replace the Libre until tomorrow afternoon. Shooting blindly is giving me anxiety especially with his lower numbers :nailbiting:

Anyone using the LIBRE sensor know how much lower it reads?

Thank you
Madeline & Butch:cat:

Hi Madeline. I use a Libre 3 and usually find when it says Lo, it can be anywhere from 50’s to low 100s on a handheld meter.
I’ve seen others who also use Libre 2 or 3 and they can have much less of a spread, sometimes only 10-20 points. So I don’t know why it’s different from one cat to another.
I place the Libres on myself so I don’t have to rely on a vet’s office and getting there.
Can you do it yourself or at least try it? I highly recommend thr Facebook group for loads of instructions and information in using a Libre for a cat.
(Freestyle Libre for Dogs and Cats).
Hope this helps :bighug:

@Staci & Ivy Hi Staci. Thank you so much, this was helpful :bighug:
Unfortunately, due to my hand dexterity I am not able to do it myself. I'll look into the Facebook group Freestyle Libre for Dogs and Cats, maybe I can have someone assist if Butch doesn't give us a hard time.

Maybe you could have someone close by you could count on get familiar with doing it and pay them to do it at home. Much quicker and easier for both you and Butch, if possible.
Wishing you lots of good luck.
If I can help in any way, please let me know :bighug::bighug:

By the way, if you still have the sensor, hang onto it and you can contact Abbott for a replacement. You can report that it fell off after 2.5 days (shouldn’t do that). Tell them it’s defective. (Don’t tell them it’s for a pet, however.)
They will send a replacement to your home address.
They will want the sensor number ( which is stored in your reader or phone as the last sensor that was activated). I save all the packaging with sensor # on it until I’m done with the sensor.
I’ve had many fail early and had many replaced.
Hope this helps. :)

Thank you so much. :bighug::bighug: I joined the Facebook group lots of good information. My vet does not use skin tac. When he placed it this time, he shaved Butch not the tech. I don't think it was shorter enough. Luckly, the vet doesn't charge me to place it but having someone close who I can count on and get familiar is defiantly less stressful than going to the vet for Butch

Thank you, Staci. This is so helpful! :) I do have the sensor that fell off. I will for sure call and ask to have a replacement sent. Thanks again! :bighug::bighug:
