I ordered backup sticks for the regular CareSens glucose meter I use. I wanted to make sure my True Metrix60 meter was working in the event that I run out of sticks by the time a new bunch arrive. So, I did a check with both meters just now and got 2 completely different readings.

His regular CareSens said 336. And the backup machine (True Metrix60) gave a reading of 288 from the same blood droplet.

Please advise what I could do? I may not be getting the correct readings. Wow!

Meter variation. Readings can differ 15-20% – even from the same blood drop.

And it is, too! So, my concern would be - what if one meter reads 95. Could it be as low as 76? Or does it flatten out as it would get lower? Just asking because of concerns that I may think he'd be in a healthy green, when it's actually falling too low.

Interesting. So, how can I know if he really hasn't fallen too low? I didn't really realize this obstacle. There's got to be a solution.
geez.. this is a valid concern. maybe take a few tests each time when that happens?.. :blackeye: hm. perhaps meters vary (?)..

Yes. I believe the higher reading is the more reliable. I haven't heard of any hypo episodes when a meter read BG in healthy ranges, so I am going to hope and assume it's not likely.:cat:
