6/8/24

This girl has been flatter than a pancake this morning. Maybe that is leading to a more active cycle tonight? Nobody knows for sure, but the girl sure is flat.
You are probably correct, Alicia. Pancakes “usually” lead to action, at least in my house they do. Enjoy the quiet before the Kit cat storm (perhaps)

@Wendy&Neko @Angela & Cleo - I know we're supposed to wait 10 cycles if we saw green nadirs - do y'all have any thoughts on what is up with her numbers? I thought maybe this morning was just the flatness before a drop, but she's so high this afternoon. She had nothing to eat but a couple of bites of freeze dried treats with tests after +3.

Is she doing more hairballs than normal for her? Is it shedding season? Cat's should have frequent hairballs. (which can cause higher numbers)
She's having what seems normal for her at this time of year (so more than she has during the winter). She absolutely must cleanse herself anytime foul human hands touch her, and she hates brushing, so she tends to have more than I would have anticipated in general because she has to clean herself all the time. It is definitely shedding season though - she had a couple at the end of May and one a couple of nights ago. Maybe she's still working on that one? I didn't see a lot of fur, but there was also food since she had just eaten.

Oh Alicia :bighug::bighug::bighug: how is she doing overall? Is she behaving normally? Does she seem in pain? See what she does tonight.
Overall she seems normal? Or at least her new normal? She is showing neuropathy in her back legs, and is starting to show some in her front paws. Her arthritis seems to make her not want to be touched from mid back to her tail, but that's been ongoing. She gets gabapentin twice a day (transdermal) to help with pain, and her next solensia shot is on Thursday. I presume she's having some discomfort in her back end because when she is touched there she sort of ripples. We do what we can to stay away from that area as much as possible.
I also don't know if it's a dental thing. She had one in October 2022, but we've been concerned about having her put under. Her kidney numbers have been relatively steady though, so I think I'm going to bring that up to the vet on Thursday. I have an email out to her to see what she thinks about doing blood work at this next appointment instead of waiting until next month. We're currently on an every 4 months blood work because it meshes well with the every two months claw trim, both of which require a heavier dose of gabapentin.

I also don't know how much of it is a response to big drops. Last night she dropped almost 100 points in the first two hours, and over 200 by +5. Tonight she's dropped 130ish points by +2. I don't know if the bigger drops become less reaction causing when the OG numbers are bigger.

Hi Alicia,
Mikan has been in the slump lately - I looked at our SS from last year and it was about this time she also had a slump - high numbers and less responsive to insulin. I'm starting to wonder if this is seasonal somehow? Or just my desperate wish to understand something not-understandable?
Anyhow, I hope our girls start shaping up soon and give us what we want, for once! :bighug:
