Wow yesterday was a real doozie of high pink numbers. :mad:I really can’t figure out why she was in that range for 9 hours. Made no sense.

When I blood tested her around +3 last night, the Libre read 321 and the Contour read 271 so that was interesting.
Then she came down and stayed in the 200s on the Libre through the night.
Hoping today she finally decides to come back down and show some better numbers

On another subject, I took her off her aluminum hydroxide binder about a week ago, and since then her poops are a little harder than they have been, which seems contradictory. Usually people say a binder can “cause constipation” but we never had an issue, so I’m watching this closely because the last thing I want is for her to be constipated.
If I need to, I can add another pinch of psyllium to her diet. She already gets 2 pinches mixed in her food and that has been just the right amount for keeping everything regular :)
Hope everyone has a safe and happy day :cat:

Good morning.
That's really interesting that the handheld number was lower than Libre. Could that mean that all those pinks she got could have been lower?
It's so good that you observe her outputs carefully. Gut health is so important. Makes me happy to see a nicely formed, ur, loaf :p
Hope Ivy breaks the flat numbers and gives you nice blues and greens today!
Have a wonderful day, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Kit, it is interesting. So they could have been slightly lower.

And maybe the harder poops could be due to the methimazole she’s now been on for over 2 months. I will have to do some research about that :bookworm:

Hope the girls have a productive and safe day, Kit :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci, good to see Ivy is going down again! The :D:D:D are not that far away....Your experience with the pink numbers on the libre and retesting on the handheld matches mine. Usually the pinks on the libre are yellow on the handheld and the yellow ones are sometimes blue ones.

Hope her digestion gets back on track again! Do you put the psyllium in water before mixing it with the food?

Keep my fingers crossed this is a nice cycle and tonight she will also go down well but without drama, so you get your much deserved sleep! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, I’m glad to hear our testing patterns match. I don’t usually test pinks but I was so concerned yesterday about such a long stretch that I thought maybe the Libre was having a problem. But after I tested I feel confident that it was ok, it was just weird there was so much pink.

I’m much happier that she dropped down today. Nor some green would be nice. :D

I do put the psyllium in her wet food but I always add water to her food, so it’s kind of soupy consistency when she eats it. I added another 1/2 pinch tonight to see if that changes anything.

I hope you and Binie also have a peaceful night and a good sleep :bighug::bighug::bighug:

And now we need some green (since her blues are Libre blues, so they are actually higher on a handheld meter)
Looks like you had a higher Libre yesterday. I supposed they are mostly lower, but how do you ever know for sure?

You only know for sure if you do a blood test. But the Libre gives me a close idea If she’s high or low. I’m mostly concerned about the lows to keep her safe.
And then I want to know what general range she’s in.
There’s no way I could poke her 6-8 times a day that I would want to. She’s not a cat that allows being handled too much ;)

Oh ok. Im so lucky Karamelle is very tolerant of the poking.

Very interesting with Ivy's numbers. Do you think taking her off the binder could have an effect on her numbers? I have no idea if that would have an effect but that's the most recent change. I'd also wonder if there's a building depot-like effect of the methimazole. I don't know a thing about that med, either. Jeez, just what you need, more mysteries! Ivy is such a conundrum. :bighug:

I hope she has a nice cycle tonight.

I agree Janet. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. Seems odd to me too.
More mysteries I don’t need.
Hope you and Purrl are well :bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci, I also test everything above green only, if I think the libre might be defective. But I am always curious, how it is working on other cats. So it seems Ivy has the same pattern. I keep my fingers crossed the psyllium works well for Ivy! Obstipation is nothing kittys or humans need... I already looked at Ivys SS. Your wishes for :D:D:D came true! :cat: Hope it is not too stressful and you have a calm night! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
