? Theodore - Is he bouncing? 173 +3 468 +11 - 06/2/24

Hello,

Just curious if it's possible Theodore is bouncing? I was shocked I tested him at +3 to find such a sharp drop AMPS was 421 and +3 was 173 but by +11 he's at 468..... he's been drinking a lot today too. Is it that the dose is too high? I will check his numbers later but I haven't done a curve yet as it hasn't been 7 days

I’m going to try and get a late one today. Should I be lowering his dose in the morning or is it to early?

He has not earned a reduction. He would need to have a BG under 90 for a reduction. It actually looks like you might need to increase in two days as his nadirs are over 150.

@tiffmaxee Just took it now at +3 and he's 135, it's odd he's dropping so quick then going high the last half

What’s your feeding schedule? I would try giving a snack at +2 to slow the drop.

Free feeding, he grazes otherwise throws hissy fits and claws my cabinets until I give in and feed him. I will try to provide a big meal tomorrow at +2

It doesn’t have to be a big meal. Just make sure he eats something.

You don't have to wait the full 7 days to do a curve. As long as you've had 3-4 days of consistent dosing to build the depot, and ideally it's not a bounce cycle, you can curve anytime.

Steep drops don't mean the dose is too high. They mean you need to control the drops with food, as Elise has mentioned. It's also looks like he's not getting very good duration, so zooming up the last part of the cycle. Then dropping off again at the next onset. What is your typical feeding schedule for him? He getting any food after nadir?

Yes he is eating throughout the day. We leave dry out and give wet as required. He usually doses off around 11AM and sleeps until about 2-3PM when he asks for a meal
