Well, she's stubbornly sticking in the yellows so far this morning, and being a flat little pancake (I just remembered there are leftover pancakes and bacon in my fridge). We'll see what the rest of the cycle is like. She has a vet visit next week - it's just a solensia visit, but I might email her vet to see if we want to move blood work up a month. We tend to do blood work every 4 months and claw trims every other month, so it's only every other vet visit that Kit has to be dosed with the gabapentin. This would throw that off, although we could do a maintenance claw trim and just adjust the schedule for future visits.

I have 10 more days or work (my contract ends on June 15 each year), and 8 days of PTO remaining. I could let up to 6 days roll over to my sick bank, but I already have 120 days in my sick bank because they're so hard to use (I've never used a single sick bank day in 15 years). I'll probably work a few mornings this week and a few mornings next week, and call it good.

Happy Monday all.

I hope Kit decides to give up the yellows soon. She knows it’s not her color.
Maybe a good idea to check things out with your vet just to make sure.

Enjoy the end of the year and upcoming time off, Alicia. How wonderful you get to look forward to this time for you I k is your sweet girl will be happy you’re home:)
Have a good Monday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

She's slowly coming down - we have a high blue now!
I have a list of things I need to do - like a deep clean of the apartment, but it will be nice to have some time off.

Looks like Kit cat's breaking the spell and starting to head south!
It was a surprising bounce (or whatever it was) but your calm demeanor was so inspiring to see.;) You took it so well.
Something I need to learn.

I'm sure you have a long list of "to dos" but you have worked so hard at work and taking care of Kit cat. Give yourself a break and enjoy time off too!
Seriously? No sick days in the 15 years? That's so amazing. Too bad you can't sell those sick days?

I may have appeared calm, but I was definitely having an offline freak out.
I've used my PTO for brief times I'm sick - my work place has a ridiculous policy that you have to be out for 3 consecutive days (so no Friday, Monday, Tuesday sort of thing) and you have to have a doctor's note for it to count for sick days. I'm just never that sick. They thought too many people were abusing sick leave, except now everyone just comes to work sick. :banghead: And then HR is like, why don't you ever use your sick bank, it's there for you? Insert instant rage. And honestly, that's less rage for me and more for the hourly folks on housekeeping/facilities/security. Maybe we could actually retain our support staff better if, oh, the administration actually supported them? So dumb.
I have enough sick bank currently I could take off more than a semester if I needed to. So I guess that's helpful if something goes majorly wrong (knock on all the dang wood).

That is the dumbest policy I've ever heard (sorry). If you are sick but you know there is nothing a doctor can really do (say you have a bad cold), why bother going in when you don't feel well? Also, can't people use the sick leave for family illness? Oh, then the poor sick family has to get a note from a doc? Those administrators focus so much on the few bad ones who may have abused the system and decide to punish everyone.
I also have always thought that we should be able to use sick leaves for our animals. They ARE families. My colleagues can get sick leave with no problem when their kids have a fever. Why can't I get a leave if Mikan's BG is too low or Yuz is having a blockage? If our society becomes gentler to our furbabies, the world will be a much better place, I promise!

It's super dumb. There's FMLA (family medical leave) for bigger medical issues, but for basic "I have a cold/stomach flu/etc" you have to use your PTO because sick bank is so hard to use. And it's not like the school pays enough for the hourly folks to pay to get a doctor's note when it might just be a slight stomach bug.
I'm lucky - my department chair is great about me needing to be home for Kit, as long as my work gets done. I also don't have much supervision, so it ends up not being as big of a deal for me (more that I think it's a terrible way to treat employees), but I really feel for the hourly folks.

Hi Alicia and Kit!
I see all my kitty friends were a bit higher this am, even Nestle, so maybe something in the air.
Hopefully she showsnsome action but nothing too dramatic so you can sleep.
And wow about your sick time. I wish you could share some of those days with me.

I only get 10/year and only now they're changing the policy where we'll be able to roll over up to (only)5 sick days for the following year. Before it was use it or loose it. As a FA I don't think we get enough since we're stuck in a metal tube with people constantly sneezing and coughing around us :stop:o_O but oh well.

Anyways, enjoy the rest of your meownday

Oof. I can't imagine how often y'all would get sick from all the folks flying while sick.
I wish I could share sick leave with folks. My sister has to take 3 months off for a surgery, and only has enough PTO banked for a month. So she'll just be out of work (and continuing to pay into insurance while not working) for two months. Such a racket.
I'm glad you get to roll over days now!
