hello!! :)

I must admit im kind of impressed by these sort of even numbers.. its good I think (???).

we're doing ok. I just want him feeling himself more asap.. since it's Day... 4, do I need to be doing +3,6,9 still?.. was thinking tapering it down to maybe +4, +6.. or +8?.. others here and there, +9.. +2.. idk. :)

the shots don't hurt at all much im noticing anymore (probably me as well getting better at it and making sure its just skin.. also changed the spot a little higher. :cat:) but boy.. trying to dose the insulin. these plungers not very smooth!!!!.. but making it work. I HATE having to expel some.. but can't be helped. these gigantic bubbles!!! although I do appreciate the little needles. and can just easily buy more.

is it nice just being over and done with.. all done pretty much at once. no waiting. :cat: prep is the hard part.... and trying to make the new time (scaling back..). so stressful; but learning how long things generally take.. I am liking a later time, but not great for things that need doing during the day....

only thing is trying to keep the pen as nice for as long as possible.. find I have to pull more and re-insert because the damn syringe shoots out too much... really hope its ok.. not sure whether to do a new syringe every time but then that's wasteful.... idk. ive started pulling back on the syringe a little to try reduce any lubricant/silicon getting in.... YIKES. im paranoid ever since hearing from Care page video don't put anything back in, etc. and my syringes leaking.... *laugh cries
but at the same time, it's a learning curve. and doing best.... o_O

PSA: also for anyone might need to hear; if you do a fur shot, not sure if went in, etc. and using Lantus, it has a SMELL. I think you'll probably know. :/ complete antiseptic hospital. not unpleasant at all ive come to find, clean actually.. medical. but obviousss. take some sniffs and maybe see...

As far as the fur shot, you never want to shoot a second time because you smell the insulin. Some could have gotten in and no way to know how much. When I thought I had a few fur shots the tests seemed to indicate some got in.

I don’t think you need to test every 3 hours. Lantus usually kicks in at +2 but it can be sooner or later. For Max it was usually around +2.5. If at onset the BG is lower you want yo test again in a few hours. If higher then a mid cycle test is a good idea to try and catch the nadir. Vary the extra tests to get a picture of how it’s going. So one time an +2 and +5 for example. Another ribs a +3 and +6. If any of those tests show the BG is dropping then keep testing. You can always post for guidance. A test at +11 occasionally will let you know if getting longer duration and prepare you for a possible lower preshot number.

Carrying on the conversation about TR vs SLGS yesterday. Yes, TR is more aggressive - you increase faster than you would with SLGS, which allows you to get to a good dose faster. Plus the reduction point is lower. Both those points mean more testing is required. And with that means better odds of remission, though it dose happen with SLGS too. The choice of dosing method comes down to lifestyle of the caregiver and goals for their cat.

If you do a fur shot (it happens!) could you put FS beside the units in the spreadsheet so people can see at a glance. It impacts dosing decisions.

Like Elise commented, you can mix up the tests to get a better picture of what is happening, A +2 instead of a +3, maybe a +4 or +5 instead of a +6. Then if you see Pudge is diving a lot between two tests, you might need another test after that.

sound advice! thanks :) yeah! was just mentioning for ppl if not sure, Lantus has a smell also.. probably would pick that up too. (and that's a great tip about a lower pre-shot #.. very true!.. ive had instances where I was surprised.. am curious of these at times and will try to take some..)

I seee.... so TR has the best chance at remission? (that's the intention here..) and SLGS has a bit less? and tbh.. im testing all the time. and have been mixing up the test hours.. :) :)

and was only bringing up FS for others if they weren't sure what happened ~ w Lantus, there's also an unmistakable smell lol.. :cat:

If I shoot out too much, i will reinsert and draw what I need. Although, I really try not to and it happens rarely.

ugh in the beginning its learning and getting used to things.. new beautiful insulin, new syringe.. and was having to withdraw 3 or 4 times one time.... because they were so sticky!!! (syringes...) now.. I try not to do it. but would if had to.. today went smoother tho. :) eh. hoping it'll be fine...
