Question: my boy usually has breakfast at 10:15 and his shot at 10:30 both in a.m. and p.m.
Unfortunately I had to make a dentist appointment for 10 o’clock one day next week.
Should I give my boy his breakfast and shot earlier, food at 9:15 and shot at 9:30 or should I wait until I get home which should be food at 11:30 shot at 11:45? I’m thinking earlier, probably would be best. your thoughts please?

Earlier seems like the right answer to me also, but I’ve been out of feline diabetes for a few years now. I noticed you hadn’t received a response, so I figured I might.
You’ll get better/more informed info and answers if you ask this question in the main thread though. You’re currently in “off topic”, so that might be a reason why there’s been no response so far. I do hope you find the correct response!

With Lantus/Glargine there’s no need to wait until after the meal. You test, feed, shoot all in quick succession. I shot while Darcy was eating. So that may help you regain 15 minutes. The onset of Lantus isn’t for a couple of hours so there’s no need to wait for them to finish eating.

Since it’s better to adjust shot times by no more than30 minutes a day, you could prepare a day or so ahead of wby moving the shot time earlier a day or two before the dental appointment. Then you could adjust it back the next two days.

I could probably do that adjustment, but my problem is the very next day I will be not be home until 1030 at night so that would make him an hour late for his shot. Not sure what to do about that.

Well then I think his numbers at this time are certainly high enough that you could just shoot early the day of the vet appointment and not worry about it. It could act as a tiny bit of a dose increase, but I don’t think you have cause to worry.

Will he have a +2 snack available while you are gone? Or it sounds like you would be home from the dentist by +2? So you will be home in plenty of time to test and feed him, right?

That’s good to know, thank you. I did shoot and feed at the same time last night and this morning.
