Good morning,
Not surprised that Ivy was higher last night since she had been low for the two previous cycles. Guess that’s just her body reacting.
(plus I fed 9.25% dinner and 2 snacks since I went out for a few hours).
Yesterday was quite a day with two failed Libre sensors due to the very low cycles.
I guess the sensors couldn’t keep up. Ugh.

Hoping today’s calmer on all fronts. I need to cut her nails so that’s a whole battle so it’s always better when I don’t have to do it on a day where I’m constantly trying to poke at her, she hates it. :arghh:

Wishing Everyone a very peaceful day :cat:

My. Sorry to hear about the sensors, two of them! :spam:
I know what you mean about trimming nails. I have to be super-opportunistic and if I am lucky, I can get 3 nails done at a time.
Most of the time, just one. Takes forever! I have nail cutters everywhere in the house, just in case I get a chance
Hope Ivy cooperates today.
Wishing you a nice, non stress day, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Kit. I need good nail cutting and calm day vibes. Every day is something else. Always trying to strategize what needs to be done, then, wham, another problem to overcome. :blackeye:
Hope you enjoy a calm and stressful day, too!

Kit is also not a fan of the nail trims. Do you do both back and front? I can mostly do Kit's fronts, but for sure not her back claws, so every other month the vet does those when she's here for Kit's Solensia shot. Kit is, of course, on gabapentin for when the vet does it. I can mostly get through a paw at a time on the front ones for in between maintenance trims. She is definitely not pleased about it though.

I hope Ivy's claw trim goes well! :bighug:

Good luck with the claw trim, Jack is a pure beast about it, I managed his front claws at the vet, but the back ones, forget it. And I'm sorry about the sensors- such stress. Hope today is a calmer go for you and Ms Ivy :bighug::bighug:

Hope today is better Staci

. I’m lucky that Tiger loves his paws rubbed and is pretty easy to trim nails but I still have the vet do it occasionally when they change the sensor because they trim them much shorter. I’m a whimp and never trim as short. We had a terrier once that I always trimmed nails for and got one too short once and he bled all over our new white couch! Something I will never forget!

It's always a challenge, I do all 4 paws, nobody else to do it! She absolutely hates it. Screams like there's no tomorrow!

Thanks, Check off my list of to do today. I always make sure to do it before a vet visit (on Monday) so she can't scratch the He## out of them.
I appreciate your good wishes :)
Hope you are having a good day:bighug::bighug::bighug:

You are very lucky, Deb. On many levels, Tiger is such a mellow and well behaved boy. I love Ivy to pieces, but she's a bad A$$ and always has been.

Her first vet couldn't look carefully in her mouth at one point since she was so badly behaved, the vet just bypassed the exam....turned out later she really needed a dental which had been passed over. I then switched vets in the practice since she couldn't handle her.

As I have said many times, Ivy is her own worst enemy. If she would cooperate with many procedures, I could just poke her all the time and not deal with the Libre. It's due to her nature (not my desire) to just do ear pokes only.

Sorry about your white couch story, that sounds awful! You can't forget those things! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((((@Staci & Ivy))))) I am so sorry about the sensors going out and having to do the nail trimming on top of all else you go through. Sending my strongest calming and feel better vines.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: I cannot imagine having a cat yelling at me while having to cut all 4 nails either, you are a Saint!!! I hope the rest of your day is better, hugs! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Aww. Thanks Ruth. Hugs received and welcomed. Sand to you.
She’s a pistol, my girl. If she only understood all I do for her is for her own good. Why can’t they talk??
I hope you are doing well :)

Kit's vet brings this cotton thing that zips up and then has velcro straps that sort of contains her, and then has little openings where she can pull her legs out for blood draws or shots or claw trims. So helpful. It's this! https://calmcozycat.com/
That’s very cool.
I watched the video. The most mellow cat on that planet.
Ivy would lose her you know what if put into that bag. how does Kit react?

Kit's always on gaba when she goes in - if she's adequately dosed, she hisses and growls. If she's not quite as well dosed, we have to occasionally rearrange her as she somehow manages to twist herself around in the bag. We also team up, I keep her head occupied while the vet does her thing. Which really only works because Kit rarely bites, which I know is not Ivy's M.O. I wasn't sure how Ivy would react to it, but thought I would share just in case. I don't by any means own one, it's just the one the vet owns. I just had a thought - have you ever seen the things that hang from the doorways that you put the cat in? Like this guy - https://shorturl.at/pvzTU. Quite possibly the same issue as the first one. But maybe she'd like it?

I think she would freak out if I put her in that! She won’t even tolerate a burrito. She gets crazed if you try to restrain her :arghh:
@Alicia & Kit cat

Wow! You all have some real diva drama queens! :p
We've got one (his cat, of course ) that's a two person job, but hubby does a cradle scruff hold and I clip. Goes very quick, and no danger to life or limb. The other two are much more relaxed and sit in my lap for nail trims.

Staci, between the Libres and the nail trim you've had quite the day! I hope things have settled down, including Ivy, and all is well. :bighug:

Haha. Your crew sounds awesome. I didn’t know there was more than Purrl.
“His cat” :p:p
That’s funny. But sounds like Ivy a bit.
I used to have DH hold her but he couldn’t manage the job. I fired him. Then my son stepped up. But Ivy doesn’t like him to touch her for no good reason (he adores her. She’s never forgiven him for going off to college. Has held a grudge for 10 years. She’s very complicated).
Anyhow I’ve taken to doing it myself. I have to wear a heavy long sleeved sweatshirt with DH’s former pair of workout leather gloves with no fingertips. It’s my nail clip “outfit”.
So yes, it’s been a nutty few days. But in my life, it’s always nutty it seems
It’s why I have little energy for extra drama.
I hope things are calm in your world :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think Kit would murderalize me in my sleep if I tried the hanging one (I wouldn't now since she's older and has arthritis, but when she was younger? Oh I was tempted).

That does make it rough. I was gonna say maybe she'd get calmer as she got older, but she's 12, soooooo....

I have a friend who one of his cats is very much not okay with being handled. Sometimes he has to be handled though, so my friend makes diligent use of his welding gloves when trying to maneuver Sebastian around for vet visits, etc. I have thought about my welding gloves occasionally when Kit gets super feisty.
