Hello

here is yesterday:

https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/04-30-eddie-amps-299-pmps-364-8-322.289450/

This morning, because I had to syringe feed some of his breakfast I was going to take him to emergency because his kittybox action is not normal: reduced urination and no pooping. So, I syringe fed him and took the shot; later he finished the food on his plate.

I gave him Mirataz around AM + 4.5 and a Cerenia at the same time. It's now nearly +8. Eddie is acting really strange. He seems restless. He's wandering around the house and even went to the basement. He's not hiding, just going about. I'm at a loss. When I put food in front of him, he looks like he wants to eat but just hovers. The same with his water bowl, although he does drink a little. He's now sitting in the kitchen on his mat as if waiting for testing. He looks to me as if he wants food. I put some down. He sniffs and turns away.

Oh, and he's had Gabapentin; about .75ml around 5:00 am and again at AM +7.5=1 ml.

I'm going to see what happens at PMPS and if we are still doing the same thing, I'm bringing him to clinic. Period.

@Wendy&Neko any thoughts on the walking about/restlessness?

Where are you on getting the ondansetron? He does sound nauseous.

I would separate the Cerenia and Mirataz, with Cerenia first by a good 30-40 minutes if you can.

Is gabapentin one of the normal drugs he gets? How many mg per ml of gabapentin?

Ondansetron called into pharmacy. Apparently it will be ready Friday but I'm going to see about pushing it to tomorrow.

Ok, will separate Cerenia and Mirataz.

He gets Gabapentin about 3x daily: on the bottle 100ml/mg. Instructions to give 0.5 to 1.0ml every 8-10 hours or as needed.

He seems to have settled down. But I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at syringe feeding. I'm thinking he might get some relief at the clinic. What do you think?

15min later: ok for the first time in over a year, he went out the cat door into the catio. OUTSIDE!!!! Like what is happening? He used to love it out there. I went outside and he's just sitting on one of the catwalks.

I had to syringe feed Eddie again and so decided we are going to the hospital where he will now be spending the night. I feel relieved. The emerg vet knows him and recalls a similar event around the time we lost Blue. So, he's getting IV fluids, xray, comprehensive blood panel, urinalysis, Pancreatic Lipase, ketone test, and the nasogastric tube. He's gone too long with not eating properly and I'm so glad he's there in good hands. Will update as I learn more.

One thing that occurs to me is that the Cabergoline can have gastrointestinal sideeffects and I'm thinking of going back to the EOD dosing to see what happens.

Springtime?

I'm glad he's getting some tube feeding and thorough look over. I'm surprised the ondansetron is taking so long. It's a human med available at pretty much every pharmacy down here. I've had to wait overnight, just once.

Sleep well.
They do have the ondansetron at the clinic. I asked. :cat:
the vet will call after the cray, etc and leave message on my phone tonight. So relieved.
Thanks for being there. Goodnight.

Adding my prayers and hugs for you and Eddie. Ask your vet if the mirtazapine could be causing the walking about and restlessness. My Buster did a fair amount of that while taking the drug and he was on a very small dose. Also,if your vet agrees, couldn't cyproheptadine be used as an appetite enhancer. My little guy did well with it. I hope you got some sleep. I hope by now the ondansetron is on board for nausea.
