Sorry, I am not always the best at posting every day! In the spring and summer, I spend a lot of my time outside, while also trying to stay on top of monitoring Charlie! :)

I went for a larger reduction yesterday morning and another reduction this morning. Charlie is working his way down quickly now!! Makes me happy to see him doing so well.

Good morning! Yeah it's tough, and technically per the guidelines of the forum I shouldn't be posting on threads from previous days, but I am always stalking Charlie's spreadsheet and want to comment!

So I am glad you made a condo today!

I cannot believe you got YET ANOTHER "LO" reading omg. Let's see what 2.5 can do....c'mon Charlie, stop giving your mom fits!

I'm trying to be better! Thanks for always checking on Charlie. It means a lot to know a kind internet stranger cares about Charlie and I.

I was pretty surprised about last night too. I almost considered doing another larger reduction but figured I shouldn't do two in a row. We'll see where he is at mid-day today. I am glad to see him getting lower but these super low numbers could stop! It does make me crazy. :p

Hope you tested again after last night's scary +4.:eek: Charlie is definitely racing down the dosing ladder. If he throws another low number at you like that anytime soon, I'd be tempted to take a 0.5 unit reduction. It is so much easier on both of you to go up the dosing scale than racing down.

I should have but didn't  I was already asleep and got up to do that test at +4. Half asleep I tested him and gave him some honey. I went back to sleep and set an alarm to get up and test him again but must have snoozed it in my sleep. He was back up to 183 this morning.

I did a 0.5 unit reduction yesterday morning after doing a token dose Saturday night. If I do get another super low number... is it okay to do two larger reductions in a row? I guess that's better than going super low multiple days in a row?

My suggestion is to wait and see what he does on this dose, but if his next dive is below 40, go for 0.5 units reduction. Going super low at no time is any good. Hypos can cause brain damage. The token dose help drain larger depots, so that's also a good technique. If you get a scary low, do a token (or no) dose followed by newly earned dose. Note to any lurkers, the above is for Katy and Charile Bean only. He's "complicated" and doing his own thing right now.

Neko went through a similar down dose ride a couple times. She had acromegaly, which meant her dose got up to 8.75 units (ie. larger depot hanging around). She got treated for the condition and it was a pretty rough ride down dose due to larger depot and closely spaced reductions. Caution is always the safe route. But I still got freaked out by the occasional surprise 20's. As a general rule for Charlie, I'd try to make sure he always has access to some food, so he can help keep himself safe. My Neko was a hoover, I couldn't leave food down except in an autofeeder set to open when she might go low.

Thanks for the advice. I considered another token dose last night with him being 115 at PMPS. Looking at the lows last night I probably should have done the token dose. It's always so hard making the judgment call and hoping I'm doing the right thing! And always worrying that I am going to mess up the progress we've made so far. But I'll try to remember what you said, Caution is always the safe route.

Charlie does almost always have access to food. He is pretty good about eating small amounts throughout the day and night.

Hopefully, he isn't dropping too low when I go home for lunch at +6. We'll see.

Go with what you gut tells you is best for Charlie. If it's telling you less insulin, do it. Be ready to consider a reduced dose tonight, depending where he is later. Ketones are still good. :) Worst case you go too low, his numbers will jump up and we can bump the dose back up. I really want you to get to a place where you can shoot the same dose for six cycles in a row. Seems like a big ask for Charlie right now.

I'll see where he is at for PMPS and decide from there but he definitely needs a reduction. I want to get to a place where we can keep the same dose for a while too! Charlie is not making that easy!
