Life has been kicking mine and Falafel’s butts lately. I tried to run a curve today and we both fell asleep promptly at +4. But I think we have enough data at 0.25U that I can try 0.5 today?

I will be WFH but I’m leaving at +6 for a dentist’s appointment, so I’ll probably leave out some HC depending on the numbers.

I have been giving Cerenia around PMPS and Zeniquin 2 hrs later. This strategy seems to be working and we have no vomiting, but even tho I gave her Mirtazapine recently her appetite is not super strong.

Last night I got her to eat almost a whole can of food over 4 hours by holding it near her and giving lots of cuddles. Hopefully today she eats 2 whole cans.

We’re also dealing with constipation (though she is able to poop a little) so I will be giving her Miralax later.

But overall I think she is doing okay!
 
Good luck with that increase, Z. I hope Falafel kicks the constipation soon. That’s always tough.
Hoping the meds are making her feel better. Sounds like you have a good and supportive routine going. You’re a great Mom and so dedicated :)

Thanks Staci!!! This forum really is a blessing. I don't think anybody else understands our caretaker woes.
 
The recommended dose of probiotics for cats is 5-10 billion CFU/kg/day.

For a 5kg cat (equivalent to 11 pounds) you will need 25-50 billion CFU/day, so that would be 1 capsule. How much does Falafel weigh?

I just weighed her. She is 8.3lbs or 3.765kg. So it seems like I can give her 1 whole capsule of probiotics? Thanks!

Also, since she’s a grazer and a slow eater, I was thinking to give her the probiotic in her AM food bowl so I don’t have to worry about interference with the antibiotic (I usually give that at PM +2).
 
When you start probiotics, don't give the full dose at once. Ease her into it, or should could get gassy. Maybe start half dose and work your way up. You could also give her the probiotic in a bit of Churu or equivalent treat, if that's something she'll eat quicker.

Ok. I think I'll start this tomorrow. I gave her 1.88mg Mirtazapine at PMPS today and I hate how she reacts to it (heavy breathing for 30-40mins and lots of purring before she calms down) so don't want to mess with her too much tonight.
 
Have you considered giving her either a smaller piece of the pill or the Mirataz transdermal ear cream. The Mirataz comes on much slower so less side effects. When I started here, people were giving a dose of "a crumb" of Mirtazapine pill.

The vet originally had her on 2x the dose (so I think ~3.75mg) and I halved that after speaking with an ER vet on the phone. But I think I can halve/quarter the pill again into crumbs and dose that way, I did not think of that!

I have not gotten the transdermal Mirtazapine yet. I'm putting it off since I have a lot of the pills left. Trying to be a little conservative with funds since I'm pretty deep in the hole these days!
