Automatic Feeder Question

I feed my 2 cats Fancy Feast Wet Canned food 3 times a day, but unfortunately I need to go away for the weekend. I plan on using an automatic feeder for each cat, but what I’m wondering is, do I need the additional ice packs underneath if I plan on freezing the Fancy Feast into portions and placing them in the feeder right before I leave? I’ve been looking at several options including:

PetSafe

I have read a lot of members freeze them into portions and place them in the feeder right before they leave. Most feed their cats more than just 3 times a day

No you can just use the ice packs, no matter if you use an auto feeder or not always add a little water to the wet food.If you use the auto feed just add some cold water to the food
