4/10, Falafel, AMPS 120 +1.25 161 +2 167 PMPS 132 +2 184 +4 139

Going into work today so can only get a +2 and then won’t be back until PMPS. I’m nervous!

I knew I should have gotten more tests last night but I slept so early :(
Hi Z, sorry I am just seeing your post now. I was doing my routine at the same time as you so I was unavailable. At that time of morning you may want to try to tag Bhooma or Angela, they may be your best shot at help for being available. @Bandit's Mom @Angela & Cleo
Ladies, is there anyone else Z could tag at 6am East Coast time?

Z, it looks like you gave the full dose, correct? I would think leaving some higher carb food to keep Falafel safe would be good. You have an auto feeder?

Do you agree Angela and Bhooma?
Thanks all and wishing you a safe surf today :bighug::cat::bighug:

I stalled for 15 mins before shooting and she was at 124, so I think it was okay to shoot bc she was going up (slightly).

+1.25 is 161. For Falafel, I noticed her regular cycle is that she goes up until +2 and then starts coming down at +3.

I have an auto feeder but she doesn’t like eating from it so I leave food out for her to graze all day (better than her not eating at all).

I can leave out 2 bowls, one with regular LC wet and one with a smaller amount of MC wet, what do we think??

I think tagging Bhooma so early in the AM (east coast) is the best bet as it's afternoon where she is.

Aside from that I think you handled this situation well. Stay safe little Falafel while mama's gone.

Ok I think we were safe! I came home to two SPARKLING food bowls and a predictable PMPS. Now I am actually thinking maybe the HC wet wasn’t necessary and I could have just left out extra of her regular LC?

Secondly, she still has this nasty UTI :( after 2 rounds of Clavamox (1wk and then again for 2wks), vet prescribed Zeniquin 12.5mg bc they think the infection may be hiding in her kidneys (she does have slightly elevated kidney levels). They confirmed w the urinalysis that this bacteria should be susceptible to this antibiotic. I have to cut the tablets myself which is tricky, I’ve ordered a pill splitter though. Got the first half pill down successfully just now using a gel cap.

The round of Zeniquin will go for 28 DAYS! Vet said each time an antibiotic fails, subsequent rounds need to be longer. I am also questioning the dose of Zeniquin, google says 2.75mg/kg for 5-14 days is appropriate dosing. Falafel is only about 3.8kgs but the vet’s dose is more appropriate for Falafel at her regular weight (closer to 4.5kgs).

Am I overthinking this? I want to trust the vet but for some reason I’m flashing back to the first vet back when Falafel was first diagnosed and how he almost caused her death. (Happy thoughts at nighttime, clearly!)

Re: HC It's a learning curve. Maybe next time in a similar situation you could just leave MC and see how she does. And then LC, especially when you're home to test throughout. That's how we get to know our kitties and what's best for them in a given situation.
Sometimes I feel like we're mad scientists, but in a good way haha

Hi Z
Glad she was ok when you got home
If you are concerned about the dose of the different antibiotic, on your post for tomorrow start your title with a ? then you can put Question about antibiotic for UTI and you can still continue with her AMPS numbers
Copy what you wrote starting with
Secondly, she still has this nasty UTI etc

Hmmm good idea. Let’s see how I feel tomorrow. I’m feeling calm right now but since I have to leave for work again, I’ll probably worry and stick with the HC wet :p
