4/3 Kona AMPS 124, PMPS 165, +1 255 -- back from vet

Kona had her dental today. They didn't do any extractions, but they found a tumor in her mouth or some sort of growth. It was growing almost completely over one of her back molars, basically covering it and then growing into her mouth. They removed most of it, but hesitant to remove it all. They're sending it off to do a biopsy to see if it's cancerous. :(:(:( I'll get results sometime late next week.

I made notes before on noticing Kona eating on one side of her mouth. I had no clue there was a growth. I do look at her teeth time to time, I thought I saw something larger, but didn't question it. I feel so stupid now. This is also probably why she had some episodes of not eating too. The vet looks at her teeth when we do checkups, not sure how they missed it too.

They showed me photos, I'm expecting them in email so I can post. Doesn't look good, but I'm trying to stay calm and hope for the best.

Miss Cleo had an extraction, teeny tiny front tooth.

Number going up at +1 big time. Depot is running out.. I question why the half dose tonight, but was so in shock with the tumor thing don't remember why it was recommended. I'm sure we will see bad numbers first thing tomorrow morning.

Doing some googles, reading this is grim "In cats, more than 90% of oral tumors are, unfortunately, malignant." Source: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/oral-tumors-in-cats-an-overview

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: What a day!

I'm choosing to root for Kona being amongst the 10%. Neko's dental vet was preparing me for the worst after he removed a bony bump on her jaw bone. She was in the 10%, benign.

Neko's first dental, her vet also recommended 1/2 dose in the PM. Maybe in case she didn't eat? I listed to the vet too, in spite of her being high 400's. :banghead: Good thing, Kona will get over it too.

I hope all goes well and she is in that 10% fingers crossed for you and kona. My cat who passed away also had a lump in her mouth and they tested it and it was because her defenses were low and she got those lumps. The end result was that her body was defending itself against a disease that was detected as lesmaniasis. Not possibly everything is cancer ... never lose hope and try to be positive ...
