Good morning
What a night! After Tiger had his “sick” spell yesterday evening, he really had no appetite but I did manage to get a bit of food in him before bed at +3. His libre readings were normal for him then.

About 10 mins of getting in bed his numbers started plunging, dropping 100 in an hour(+4), continuing another 50 the next half hour. At this point I gave him a tsp of 12% to slow him down. When he continued to fall I gave a tsp of mixed 12%&20%, still kept falling so gave tsp of 20% , each about 15-20 mins apart, and he continued to drop to 60 when I gave him corn syrup which brought him up for a while until +6.5 when he started dropping again until hitting 87 at +8.5 , where I gave him tsp 20%. At this point he did not want any food and the libre alarm scared him and he ran from me. He was freaking, Inwas freaking trying to turn it off, and through all this, hubby went on sleeping right next to us!
Thankfully since it was late in the cycle he did start coming up a bit without me having to give anything else. At +10 he ate some kibble from his auto feeder which I was glad of.

every time I gave him food his numbers would come up a bit and then fall back down. This went on all night…..Also the libre stopped working for a while each time the alarm went on, which added even more stress.

I know he earned a reduction. He’s been so high, this was really unexpected.

This morning he refused to eat much and had a much lower amps than usual, 100-150 lower, so with it also being Easter and planning to go to my nieces today, I was scared to give him a full dose. We opted for a token dose of .5.

I know I probably made the wrong decision on dose but with no sleep last night and every thing else going on, I felt it was the best decision for us……

Hoping for a Happy Easter for all.

Morning Deb. Tiger sure kept you busy last night .
I think you made the right decision giving Tiger a token dose :cat:
I hope Tiger's appetite improves . He will get back on track. Enjoy your day out :bighug::bighug::cat:

I wouldn't call those low numbers, but rather lower numbers than Tiger is used to. They were still in the range of a healthy non diabetic cat. But since you are following SLGS, they do mean a reduction.

It's too bad you can't test manually to see what that 60 really represented. I get a little worried that Tiger is earning reductions with the Libre, when a handheld might show otherwise, and when what he showed the rest of the week is that he really needs is an increase. The only comparison you have between the Libre and hand held in lower numbers was Jan 30th, where a 60 on the Libre was a 112 at the vet, and 112 would not have earned a reduction.

Those upset tummy episodes seem to really throw him off. Wasn't that how he earned his reduction? Ugh, it's taken you a month and a half to get him back close to a good dose again. I hope he gets his appetite back on track soon.

I agree with everything you said. I hate taking these reductions and set backs. The tummy issues are a big problem but we manage those as best we can. It’s so frustrating and the best I try I can’t seem to stop those deep dives. I’m becoming an emotional wreck over all this….thanks for your thoughts.

Happy Easter!

Thank you so much for the support and encouragement Diane. It means a lot .
His appetite seems better today thankfully.

Happy Easter!

Hi Deb, sending you and Tiger big hugs of support. You had a tough night. I understand how stressful that is.
Hoping you had a nice Easter and Tiger will feel better and things will be better tonight and tomorrow. Sending you hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh (((((((Deb))))) You really got put through the paces last night! I recall you saying that alarm is very loud and can't be turned off? And your husband slept through it all? LOL, mine did that too, he could sleep through anything but in his defense, he was still working and had to get up at 5:00:rolleyes: I think we all can relate how stressful and scary it is to have the low numbers at first, then having the alarm scaring poor Tiger, you did a good job, you are in a very steep learning curve with feline diabetes and you just do the best you can with what you have, don't beat yourself up!!! As for today, you keep Tiger safe and I hope you had a nice afternoon with your nieces and Happy Easter if you celebrate it!!! (We are starting a kitchen remodel this next week, we have been packing everything in boxes, plus new flooring in the upstairs so I am thankful for this day of rest. I put a pot of Bolognase Rago on the stove that will cook for a few hours so I can visit on this forum and check in with my favorite kitties and hoomans!):bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am also wondering if Tiger's lack of appetite and even his stomach upset could have come from the high carb foods? And he may have been just plain too full to eat by the time his morning shot was due? I know that happened with my Tiger on those late night dropping number nights.

Hi Ruth, Happy Easter! Bologna’s Ragu sounds so yummy!
Kitchen remodel sounds exciting but the packing doesn’t! It will all be worth it! Are you staying there while works being done?

I have cut his carbs a lot since FD and could cut more if he wasn’t so fussy. I would have thought he’d been full but after all that he was eating from his auto feeder at 6am! That might have been why he wasn’t hungry! His appetite has been good so far today and hopefully gets his full shot tonight. Sleepy head is just waking up as we just got home. Bottom line he’s just too spoiled and knows it and how to use it! Worst part is the reduction, he needed this amount and maybe more….oh well time to build it back up.

Hope you had a wonderful day, I missed you the last few days!
