Good evening,

I am a bit exhausted today. Today I gave the old dose of 2,5 IE because I worried that maybe the new cartridge I started today acts stronger because I stored the old cartrige for 30 days outside the fridge. But I think it was o.k., the curve today was not abnormal.

The last days I already hat trouble with the libre and today I got errors most of the day. Scared to up the dose tonight without having good numbers I wanted to give it a try to put a new one on myself. And I failed. Binie was making a move when it clicked and the sensor is still stuck in the applicator. I wanted to try with another one but she hided from me. Now I have another opened sensor and nothing on the cat. I wonder if I could save the opened one until the vet appointment on tuesday. They cost a fortune in Germany and I am really frustrated.

Plus I have to shoot Binie in half an hour and I am so insecure to give the higher dose without getting the numbers from the libre. :(:(:(

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Update: I decided to start the new dose tomorrow, when I can monitor her more closely during the day. The old freestyle is still on, gives numbers sometimes I can not fully trust anymore and very often just shows an error. It was not an easy decision as it feels I let her down with numbers too high. On the other hand my nerves are wrecked and I wonder how long I can go on like that without enough sleep. :( I hope all this gets easier one day....

Hi Heike, I am so sorry I am just seeing this now. You have had a very rough night and day. Sending you bug hugs of support to you and Binie.
I understand the difficulties if the imperfect Libre. When they are good they are great, but when they give errors or fail they SUCK!

Good for you for trying to install the Libre. It takes practice. Watch lots of videos and read. Did you join the Facebook group to get lots of information. I did nad that’s where I learned so much.

I don’t think you can salvage the sensor you tried to apply and got stuck in the cap. I always have several extras on hand just in case I need them.( and I do).

Never throw away a sensor that failed or got stuck, Abbott will replace them, you have to submit a claim and never tell them it’s for a cat! Always save the box with the Sensor number. Your phone will have error codes which they will want if the sensor failed. I try to make notes when one fails so I can give details. They are too expensive so please try to get them replaced, they mail you a new one to your address.

Wishing you a very safe surf for Binie and for you to get some rest!!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you for your support Staci! I will fill out the form for the possible replacement tomorrow, we will see. I know that the sensor I tried to put on is lost. But I opened another sensor after that because I wanted to try again but Binie run away and hided. It is open now but I wonder if it will be still good if I keep it until tuesday, when I go to the vet. I made something on top so no dust etc. can fall into it.

I’m sure it will be fine if you have it covered. And the one that got stuck, just tell them it got stuck. That’s legitimate for why you couldn’t use it. Insist they replace it (in a nice way, of course).
I just called yesterday and spoke with them on the phone. I reported 5 sensors and they are sending me new ones.
I just keep good notes, save them if they want them back, record sensor numbers.
I even reported one they denied online ( not sure why) but the person on the phone had it replaced.
Way too costly to just throw out if their produce is made crappy. Costs them Pennies to make I’m sure.

Thank you Staci. I will see if the vet is o.k. with using the open one and I will call Abbott for replacements. We'll see what happens. What concerns me more is, that I can't test Binie if it is needed. I just tried to do a ear poke to see if she is dropping and I couldn't. It only works if she is in the mood... I hope I will get a number before the shot tomorrow. Otherwise I don't know what to do.... :-(

I understand. Ivy is hard to poke too. But I can do it when she’s low most times. Just not all day long. She won’t Allow me.
I hope with practice you will be able to at least test sometimes. Keep trying and don’t give up!:bighug:

Thank you so much Staci. Your encouragement helps me so much! And I know there is so much going on with taking care of Ivy. You are such a kind person and such a perfect mom for Ivy. Hopefully everything gets easier for you two soon. :bighug:

Many thanks, Heike. I’m also rooting you on. You’re a wonderful and caring Mom for Binie. You’re doing great. There’s so much to learn here. I’m still learning every single day.
