So Im supposed to go out in an hour. I somehow knew this would happen. It there any way to give her something that will keep her BG up for the next 4 hours? Im so upset. I already canceled on my friend once a few weeks ago and this was supposed to be our one outing to see a play, that we do every 2 months.

Edited to add, I gave her a 1/4 of a small can of tastefuls chicken and gravy (the only thing my local grocery store had). i looked up the carbs and one source said 19% so thats HC I guess. I will test in a few minutes. Should I feed her again after the next test or wait and see if she comes up on her own? Its now 45 minutes till I would have to leave.

Start with giving her lots of carbs - HC with perhaps a drop of honey or karo. Test again in 1/2 hour to see if she's up lots or a little. That'll help with the decision.

And by lots of carbs, I don't mean large quantity, but higher % carbs, a tsp or two. In case you need to feed her more later and want her still hungry.

New dose is now 0.75 units.

Thanks. I fed her 1/4 can of Tastefuls chicken and gravy. I looked it up and one source said it was 19% carbs. I didnt add the honey. About to test again in a few minutes.

Oh Jo. I’m so sorry she decided to tank when you need to leave. Sending you hugs of support :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Alright, nevermind. My friend called to tell me not to stress out and that we would just skip the play. Shes very understanding. I still feel horrible.

Always best to add a new post rather than edit an existing one - which I could easily have missed.

Test 20 minutes after you fed her, then post. Instructions on what to do next in here: Don't Panic! or How to Handle Low Numbers
Basically, if she's still below 50 you feed then test again after 20. As we call it, lather, rinse, repeat.

Your friend is a keeper.

Thanks Staci. My friend is very understanding and said not to stress out and we would just skip the play. I feel really bad about it tho. Did you get to go out for your dinner plans?

I did actually say the same thing I added in the edit in a reply to you in case you didnt see it. Juat tested again. 61. Do I hold off feeding and see if it stays up?

Crisis averted it seems, just about 15 mins too late for my outing. I told Karamelle she was a lucky cat that she had an owner that would drop her whole social life to take care of her. She wasnt impressed.

Keep testing until it's 2 hours after you fed the HC, to make sure it doesn't wear off and numbers wobble back down again.
